Looking to purchase a portable gps. I have narrowed it down to the megallan 700, TomTom GO or the garmin 2620. After reading previous posts everyone seems to be divided. Anyone has experience with these units? or comments. thanks

I have the Magellan 700. The newer 4.26 version with the 20 gig drive. Have had it for 8 weeks, went travalinng from New York to Florida, and throughout florida while there. It performed great. There were a few times it routed you 5 or 10 minutes out of the way, but these were new roads that are not on mapping software yet. With all the construction and traffic in Florida I was glad I had it, found many new shortcuts in the Orlando and Tampa areas. I would definately reccomend this unit. I ordered it from www.tigergps.com they seemed to have the best prices. Also the dash tripod for magellan was excellent and very portable.

How does it perform in the L.I. and surrounding cities, is it pretty accurate?
