Great GPS Suction Cup Mounting Location

I was at a buddies house and comparing his 2009 to my 2004. One thing that stood out was where he had mounted his Garmin GPS using the suction cup mount. I told him he was a genius. He fessed up and said that he saw it when he was looking at a 4Runner in a parking lot and thought it was a great idea. I thought I'd share. It's a great location for passenger or driver use.

That's where I've always kept mine too, although it does occasionally fall on long trips

I also mount my Nav units in that location for years now, works great except it does get loose when doing heavier trails with more bumpier roads.

Thanks for pointing this location out, it sure is a better place then stuck up on the windshield where prying eyes can see it.

Thanks for the other links. Unfortunately we all know how poor the search is on the forum. When I searched for 'GPS mounting location', there were only three results in the 4th Gen forum and only 13 results (including the 3 from the 4th gen forum) when the search was expanded to the entire site. None of the linked threads showed up in the search despite the fact that all three search terms are in the Nuvi 350 thread (I just checked manually).

I mounted mine there until I got this mount from Pro Fit and hard-wired the power cord.

Thanks for the great idea! I just purchased a mount for my old iPhone which I now use as an iPod. I did not like the standard windshield mounting location. This is a great option!

good spot.. i have one of those gooseneck mount that bolts on to the drivers side seat been working great for about 4 years now..

Yeah, I have a mounting disk there too, I use it sometimes, but don't like that I have to take my eyes off the road more when it's not on the windshield. Previous owner had his Sirius mounted there, I think and it's a good phone mount location. It is nice to not have telltale suction cup rings on the windshield!
