Not sure what this thread is about since it is so old and the link does not work. But, i am in the process of building a Lego model.
Here is the model: Sopwith Camel* | LEGO Shop
Now, i am a beginner with these Legos...only started building Legos probably a month ago for my kids. This one is my first BIG project for myself. I jumped from building Legos with 300 parts to this one with 883 parts!! :hiding:
Here are the pics. You can see the box and then with me finishing part of it (and the mess of parts in the background). I will finish it sometime this weekend and will post pics of it afterwards.

As soon as i finish, this thing will go up very very high so that my kids won't touch it!
I saw the same exact model built and on display at the lego store yesterday.

Never did a lot of Legos, but I used to really be into model building--plastic model kits of cars and trucks. Everything hand-painted down to the smallest details, tire letters painted white with tread scuffed up to look used, all glued (no snap-together kits), mixed and matched parts between kits, etc.. Great fun back in the day!

Me too! Mostly Monogram and some Testors kits. I hated AMT/ERTL (models were junk.....nothing ever fit). I would hand paint the interior and engine and even made engine wires. Anyway, 1989 and 1990, I won 3rd and 2nd place at a model mall contest. If remember serves, my 3rd place was a Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo (I made the HUD out of a 3rd brake light out of another kit) and my 2nd place was a 1990 Lexus LS400 (I used bare metal foil for the chrome area of the car, I guess the judges liked that....). It was great fun (patience too), but I haven't made anything in YEARS............ plus I have no room for all that crap. Which reminds me, I have most of them in my parents basement somewhere....... gotta dig them up one of these days.
I used to build legos back in the day (80s), but they really didn't have much as they do nowadays.

Yeah I remember before most of those specialty molded parts were available. You basically just had separate size and thickness blocks. I had tons of them and would make all kinds of cool stuff for my "fort". :AK47:

The nice thing about the above Lego set is the detailed instructions and amazing fit of each piece. Design is superb!
