Just about a week ago I bought a 2000 T4R SR5 from my brother-in-law. Monday I made the 4 hour drive to get it home. Tuesday I brought it to a garage for inspection. It is still there, so I have not spent much time with it yet.

The T4R was purchased as a towing vehicle, to replace my 1997 Mazda B4000, and it was already setup for that. I also hope I can easily carry my canoe on top.

Being a dozen years old, I'm going to need some repairs and parts for it, so I hope this forum will be a good resource.

These pictures were taken a few days before I went to pick it up. There was almost no snow left by the time I drove home. Crazy weather!

Anyone know a good place to order T4R parts in Canada? I emailed 2 sites last week (autopartsway.ca and canadapartsonline.com), and neither one of them got back to me. I need some bell crank parts to have it pass inspection. The bracket alone is over $70 at the dealer, and has to be ordered in, so I might as well get setup somewhere that I can order any other parts.

The back bumper was replaced, but as you can see in the pic, the front one is getting rusty. Any suggestions on what I can replace it with? I was looking at some of the offroad bumpers people on here have, and I don't think I need to spend that much money. A stock replacement is probably fine for my purposes, if I can find one.

This T4R was replaced with a Chevrolet Avalanche because of a Strawberry Milkshake Failure, and that is also why I got it for $1500 less than book value. It was caught right away, and treated properly, according to what I have read here. Everything seemed to be ok during the 4 hours I drove it on the highway. Hopefully, I won't have any transmission problems.

I have the T4R home now, and all the paperwork done to get it in my name. This pic was taken a couple days ago after cleaning the rust off the front bumper with Nevr-Dull.

I'm looking forward to a warm enough day to get the hose out and giving it a really good cleaning. Still a few days each week below freezing, and the warm days not much above. The previous owner used it for camping and driving around 2 kids, so the inside has some challenging stains waiting for me.

Glad you're ok. Same thing happened to my wife in her 2001 and we bought another 3rd gen because we couldn't find anything like on the market that met our needs as well.

That was probably my first and last SUV. Over 30 years driving cars, with no serious damage or injury, and not 30 days with the 4Runner. I barely used it a dozen times. I'm going to sell the things that need towing, and just fix up the old Accord. Much safer.
