Grinding noise

Hey guys! I have had my lift installed for over a year. 3/2, 5100's, 884 fronts with super flex rears, diff drop and extended rear end links. Just got some 275/70 ko2's with method rims. Since install of new rims and tires, 1/3 of the time on U turns on the passenger front end I hear and feel slight grinding or metal on metal. Only for a split second.it also makes a beep for that split second it happens. No lights on the dash appear. Anyone have an idea what this could?

Stock rims and tires previously? Are you sure it's metal on metal?

I'd say you're rubbing at full lock with some compression on the front. I have 275s and a 3/2 lift and I rub slightly in reverse under compression. If you're not expecting it, I could see how it's pretty bad sounding though.

Just a guess. Hopefully that's all your issue is.

Yes stock rims and tire previously. I did rub when I got new rims/tires. Pushed the fender liner forward so I know it's not that. Pretty sure it's metal on metal or gears grinding..

I rub on the mud flap still, not the front liner. If it really is gears noise maybe your passenger CV needs to be replaced.

Traction control, mine does the same thing under certain conditions mostly sharp right turns, done the zero point calibration multiple times but still does it randomly

Okay, I will look into that. I just edited my original post. It also makes a beep for that split second when it occurs. What would the beeping mean??

Just a thought, but you might want to have the front wheel bearings checked. Might be one starting to go bad, which could cause the grinding noise and might trigger ABS fault.

I would look into this, i dont think your grinding is actually grinding just the abs doing its job. The vehicle is preset with certain values it's looking for and bigger tires and more offset wheels are making it confused and it feels the need to correct your driving

Just greased the steering end stops. I'll have a buddy check the wheel bearings. See what happens after those. If nothing then the zero point calibration. Would the rig benefit from a zero point calibration anyway? After a lift, rims and tires?

yes, the brains on the truck still think its stock rake, stock height, stock width and stock tires. The vsc is thinking everything thing is factory. An easy way to test this is to unplug a speed sensor and drive it in a way that you noticed it had an issue and see if you can replicate the problem. By unplugging the speed sensor you will get the slip light, abs light and vsc light and noth of them will function so no beeps or throttle cut off when it "thinks" its slipping. Now after you plug it in you will have to do the zero point calibration to get thors lights off. When i lifted my truck i replaced my wheel bearing and never bought the tool to tighten the nut for the 2wd hub nuts and smacked the magnetic ring on the bearing with a air hammer so the speed sensor wouldn't read. I loved that i had no driving aids besides the auto lsd but it was time for a inspection and had to replace the bearing to turn off the lights and did the zero point calibration lights off, passed inspection and have random times where it thinks its lost traction on sharp right turn.
