Grounding point for dual battery?

I'm installing a house battery on the passenger side of my engine bay (connected to the starter battery through a blue sea ml-acr). Would it make more sense to connect the house battery to the grounding point right next to it, or run a cable to the ground on the starter battery?

Also, should I upgrade starter battery body ground wire to the same size I'm using for the positive connection?

There is no need to cabling to the other side of the engine bay, just ground it to the body ground closest to the battery. Just make sure you fuse the positive as close to the terminal as possible. I'm partial to the Blue Sea Systems MRBF Terminal Mount Fuse Blocks as they mount right on the battery terminal insuring that the entire length of cabling is fused.
There is no reason to upgrade the starter battery ground.
Here's my set up. The ground is just next to the auxiliary battery on the fender although everything connected to my auxiliary is grounded to a common busbar and then through a shunt.

If it's isolated system then you can ground it to chasis at the closest spot. Upgrading the ground wire doesn't hurt. Single ground disconnect for both batteries will be more convient when disconnecting power' to' work on the vehicle.

Sorry no. I used a Redarc BCDC and there Redarc SBI12 solenoid so I can jump my starter battery. I also used the shrockworks dual battery kit that includes a smog pump relocation kit that moves the air pump to the firewall. Using the shrockworks kit allows you to use the second factory battery mounting tray that 5th gens have. My first dual battery setup, I put the battery in front of the passenger firewall which is not as balanced and is not properly reinforced.
Here is the basic layout.
