It comes down to pricing for me. Driving all the way to Philly is a haul for me (us...lol). I've driven to Shippensburg, thats a 7+ hour haul.

I have family with a body shop up here for painting (if I wanted to go that route). If the group buy pricing is really good, as well as the painting pricing, then I will definitely consider it.

If it is only a small savings then I may wait. The $150-$200 in fuel to make the run is what kills it for me....

thats why the excuse is having a "meet and greet/install and wheeling" reason! uhh mean excuse to come to philly :)

Lol, I hear ya!! I have interest for sure, but can't commit. If the group buy pricing is that good then I would jump in!

Just being honest man. I love a road trip as much as the next guy.....time & fuel (plus the cost of the rack), and god forbid I break anything and need to tow/fix it that far from home.....

I'll be watching the thread man.....
 
You make a good point Jim. Philly is a little far. I think if we got em I could have them delivered to my work (no promises) and then I can bring em up and we can go :50cal::sniper::ak472::gun6::AK47::gun5::hunter:

I also can have large items shipped to my office.

Like I mentioned, I can get good pricing on professional painting at the family body shop in North Hampton, especially if they paint multiple racks (paint booth can take a whole bunch of these racks). Unfortunately I do not have a garage available for a group install. I would simply bolt it up myself (with another person for help obviously).

If this sounds like something any of my fellow New England 4th gen T4R owners would like to consider let me know. I can get a quote on painting multiple racks if I get a rough number of interested parties. Maybe tie this group buy into the Christmas sale....could be a great opportunity to check off this great mod!!!

I got a shipping quote of $115 for one rack (a week or 2 ago). If we group up it might offset the cost difference, I honestly don't think it would be that much more to get them up here.

Also, just to clarify, group pricing for the painting would apply if we all get them painted the same color (assuming black, but we can discuss it). If this were to go down I would arrange to have the racks prepped and painted before everyones arrival. That way everybody just shows up (with the factory rack already taken off) and bolts up! If preferred, some folks can simply take delivery of the rack unpainted....buyers choice.

At this point we should get serious interest and bring [MENTION=77764]Whitson Metalworks[/MENTION] into the discussion for possible pricing and packaged shipping rates. Josh, if you are not sure where the Christmas pricing is going to come in at yet its no big deal. We have plenty of time, just want to stay ahead of it...

I think the math works fine with 3 orders if a 4th isn't ready to jump on board yet. that would also make the lead time that much shorter. I've mentioned this is many other threads but I work on split payments quite frequently and don't mind at all so long as its understood that I can't ship until its fully paid for. I know cash gets tight around the holidays!

OK, depending on exactly how big this group buy gets I may not have time for a Christmas special, being a one-man show lol. Lets call it a 10% discount on the racks, and of course whatever you save with group shipping. There will be nothing different about these racks; each one will still have too much time and energy put into it, come with all hardware, and a sticker! Just so everyone is on the same page...paypal sucks!! if you want to cover the fees then no problem, otherwise its pretty painful on big orders. I've been trying to move to checks/money orders only. Just PM with any concerns one way or the other.

I've run into the same issue. Have them send you payment as a gift instead of as a payment for goods and services. Makes them pay the fees.
