**Group Buy: Gobi Racks and accessories**

Michigander- Not trying to make any excuses for Gobi here but you did omit the front bump and that is considered custom. Custom work will push production back a good amount.

I ordered the top "hoop" to be all one height, no rise for front lights.

I understand that I asked for a custom revision and the extra time was quoted as "a couple days", as in 2 days. "pushing production back a good amount" was never brought up or conveyed to me.

Now I am going on 7 weeks for an estimated ship date, that isn't even set in stone.

I don't see where a small revision as in reducing the number of bends and plane of bends that was originally a 2 day lead time is now my problem of multiple weeks.

Like I said before, if I was told the true lead time of the rack, including making the "custom" request from the get go I would not be upset right now.

It would be great if GOBI could speed things up on my order.

I am not trying make anyone look bad and I appreciate RiDE trying to give us a good deal, I am just speaking frank about my situation.
 
I want to reiterate that my frustration is with GOBI and not with RiDE. RiDE can only convey to us what GOBI is telling him.

I am looking forward to getting my rack on my truck and using it.

He is a dealer and he is giving the forum members a good price on the racks. There was no minimum order and there was no hold on production until a minimum number of racks were ordered. There has not been an end date as I recall either.

So to me, these racks ordered through RiDE are just like any other order that GOBI would see from a dealer. Maybe I am mistaken?

Not mistaken at all. That's why this isn't a group buy in any fashion. It's a reseller reselling a product. If you didn't purchase from Gobi, your recourse is the one you purchased it from. That is his role in this. That is what he is making a profit on. Did you pay Ride or did you pay Gobi?

Ride isn't doing this for free. If he was, that would be one thing and a reason to not complain to him. If it was a group buy with problems (as with the console vaults), the organizer shouldn't be held accountable. In this case, you are paying someone to be the middle man. Seems pretty easy to me.
 
Just got a call from the shipping company and my rack is supposed to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. Definitely excited!
 
i have no idea,

mine were supposed to ship monday. no sign of them this week, hoping they get here next week.

My rack was delayed another week, supposed to be going to powdercoat now. So maybe your ladders are in that batch.

My rack is supposed to be shipping sometime next week now.

Maybe we will see product before 4th of July holiday. :bluejump:

RiDE has been able to get status updates for me through GOBI, so that is a good thing.
 
...and i still haven't ordered mine. I really want to get this rack but its too long of a wait. however, if I had ordered it months ago I probably would have had it already. :redbrick:
 
Finally had the rack installed yesterday. I must admit, it's a high quality piece of gear, confidence inspiring. Now if I could just get my ladder!
 
Well...my rack finally came last week (still waiting on the ladder) and I finally got a chance to mount it this weekend. It was pretty simple and I'm definitely impressed with the build quality/craftsmanship.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product. She definitely needs a bath...

Thanks, bro! I appreciate the help with the order. Now that it's all over and done with (minus the ladder), I can say that it was worth the wait.
