When I contacted him a couple of weeks ago, he did say he can do that for an additional $25 or so. I'm curious to know if he will offer that option with this GB.

I did the same, bought another set of headlights to work on. Once completed I can sell my old lights on here and make my money back. Or, what I will probably do, keep the stock lights and when I get rid of the Runner, put the stocks back on and sell my retros for much more :thumb3:

Or you could retro the second set after having experience on the first set.

Sell them and make $$.

I'm waiting for a response from Andrew concerning the warranty.

I don't see why he wouldn't offer the CCFL Halo as an option. I know there is an additional cost. I will wait to hear back from him.

btw- I will be away camping for the next 3 days so my responses on the forum may slow down a bit. I'm going to be out of range. For me to add CCFL rings at this point it would just be $25--the cost of the kit. The parts have a 5-year warranty (CCFLs have 1-year) and TRS isn't part of this build but I won't leave you high and dry if you have any problems with install quality.

You don't - you buy a spare set, have the spares retrofitted, and swap them in when they come back. You then sell your originals on this forum/ebay/etc.

It's really the only way, you can't drive your truck around with front end off, nor do you want to swap it on/off twice.

Ya, i did think of that I just want to make sure that these ebay headlights are as well made as the OEM ones. The last thing i want is to sell my OEMs only to find out the ebay lights have cheap lenses that scratch/chip/haze/etc....

From my understanding, TRS the company isn't doing the install but it's employee Andrew is doing the install on his time. I would imagine the products are still covered by warranty but maybe Mark can clarify

Hey guys, Just got back from an awesome 4 day camping trip. I'm working on all the PM's now.

Regarding the TRS labor question. The labor portion of this GB is not being done by TRS. It is being done by an employee of TRS, Andrew, on his own time. blazed870 is correct, TRS will still cover everything with its warranty. Any issues with labor, Andrew will be liable. Andrew has done a ton of retrofits and is very reliable.

He just finished up my set and is sending these back to me. Hopefully they come in this week. Here's a cell phone image Andrew sent me a few days ago of my set. I will posting up high-res pics once I get them back. Yes these are the ebay "smoked" headlights.

Come on guys, pay up so we can get the ball rolling. If you are having doubts do a google search for reviews on TRS. I didn't find anything but good things on them other than some people saying they wished they had tackled the retrofit part themselves. I personally was split on doing the install myself, but figured I would leave it to the pros this time. They have top quality products, their installs are clean and very professional, and HID is WAY better than halogen lighting.

Still holding off on payment pending the results (Ride's lights). Forgive me for being cautious, but unless 4 other people signed up, this doesn't look like it's happening? Not trying to hold you up, just making sure I'm nor rushing in. I've already ordered my trail lights from ebay as well, but I'm also following Ride's refit (similar to DeeKoi) installation and looking for the possible issues.

Aiming was not easy. Mine are slightly off, I have some other issues but once that's resolved, I'll take some pictures.

As for the aftermarket gaps... well they are aftermarket. You can always send in your OEM once but that will be a hassle to switch out...

But projectors are sweet! love the way they look and the light they project are excellent.

How difficult is the kit to install on your own headlights? Is any modifications required to make the kit fit or is it plug n play? Same for the fog light option. Would any local truck shop be able to do this with no issue ie: fairly straight-forward install?

Are there any comparision pictures between the stock light and the HID light output? Same goes for fog lights.

In terms of power draw, does this cause any issue for the alternator, power draw when the engine is off, etc?

Plug and play kits are alright. I have them on 2 vehicles now. It will be better than stock halogen. The problem is that it can often cause safety issues for oncoming traffic by blinding them. Maybe blinding is a little harsh, more like driving with your high beams on. Plug and Play kit installs are really, and I mean really simple. I was able to install my first set in about 30 minutes and my second set in honestly less than 10. I always bought the wire relay harnesses which makes every connection a no brainer. Then you just have to attach to your battery and a ground. The hardest part is usually just getting to the back of the lights.

But no plug and play kit I have had or seen compares to a true HID light. My wife's old car had stock HID's and there is a huge difference between plug and play and stock HID.

Someone else chime in, but I believe a true HID setup is much safer than halogen in that all street signs that have reflective paint actually glow and can be seen from a much further distance.

If you have a friend that has a stock HID system on their car, see if you can get your T4R next to it and do a comparison. I really think you will be amazed.

I personally thought I could tackle the retrofit myself, but quickly realized that I don't want to ruin a pair of headlights and/or have a setup that would be no better than just doing a plug and play kit. Once I get mine from TRS, I may do my stock headlights myself(I too bought a pair of the ebay headlights in question) and see if I can sell them on here. If I do, I may try to do a DIY but don't hold me to that.

With that being said I understand Gamerc and your concerns. Sorry to come off as pushy, just really looking forward to having the lights done. I know it's a lot of money and none of us want to get ripped off. You have very valid points and I do respect them.

Thank you for that response. I really miss the bi-xenons from my Infiniti and trying to place the equivalent on the 4runner. The issue I wish NOT to have is improperly aimed lights. I personally hate it when cheap HID kits and poorly aimed lights are blinding me, it would be awefully hypocritical of me to do the same! Fit, finish, light output and quality of all parts are my biggest concerns. If that comes with a high price tag so be it. Searching to figure out where and how much I can come across those attributes in a headlight. In addition hopefully foglights as I find the stock lights do almost nothing to add to light output, help in fog and blizzard weather, something very common in Alberta, Canada!

This is a plug and play kit. I recommend searching hid install or something of the like on this forum. There are tons of how to's and others who have done it. Most of these questions have also been answered throughout this thread. Please take the time to read. I should have Light pattern and cut off pics in about a week.
