Hello everybody, I purchased a 1995 Toyota 4Runner a year ago. from 1-10 scale on condition, it is about an 8. The only thing to bad with was hot spots on hood due to deterioration of heat liner under hood. The inside looks brand new. I really do like it a lot. The engine was knocking so I got it from my neighbor before she put a for sale sign on. Picked it up for $500.00. The kick ass Alpine system in it was worth that. I have a re-manufactured 6 cylinder engine it. I hope to meet new on-line friends here.

Hello Craig, welcome to T4R.ORG! Sounds like u got a helluva deal. The 3.0 is known for BHG... blown head gaskets. Running headers will eliminate the exhaust crossover pipe behind the heads that causes BHG. You'll gain some HP to boot. Doug Thorley makes great headers, check 'em out. :biggrin1:

Thanks for the welcome. I knew that this was a known problem with that engine but I was told by ATK who I purchased the engine from told me that they machined these with that taken into account. I did not ask about that but he volunteered that info with me.

I hope they have a good track record.

I've heard nothing but good things about ATK. Yes they machined the engine surfaces flat for the rebuild, but unless u get rid of the rear exhaust crossover pipe u aren't solving the cause of BHG. Get some headers! And some extra power!
