So, I blew my front diff going up a steep obstacle the other day. I was able to find a 4.30 front diff and rear axle with an e-locker to swap in. Excited to get her up and going again.

I'm surprised that is holding!! I have my tent mounted on my full-length rack which uses Uni-strut as the mounting feet and I already broke one. May have just been a weak piece but I replaced it with a longer piece to allow less stress. Like how low it sits though!

So I've been pretty busy lately just using the truck. Took it on a 2100+ mile trip exploring Montana/Wyoming/Idaho and everything worked as it should except right when it was time to go home. Camped up in the Gravelly Mountains at about 8500ft on the last night. Was beautiful up there, and cold overnight. All 3 of us zipped our annex rooms onto our CVT tents and used our heaters and managed to stay plenty warm. I had it in 4wd heading up there on the forest roads, which were fairly rutted out and had washboard type sections, and then on the way out, the truck kept shifting in and out of 4wheel drive. Got back to pavement with the same problem and realized that it wasn't going to work driving the 700+ miles home. Pulled the vacuum lines on the front diff so it couldn't go into 4wd and made it home safely. I haven't had much time to look into it but checked all vacuum lines, and they are all in good shape so I'm leaning towards a bad actuator or VSV. I'll try and figure that out next weekend perhaps. I did pick up an old M100 military trailer yesterday for a good price. It has some rust in the bed and a little on the frame that will need attention, but I think it's a great deal to start a camp trailer. Plans for it are fairly simple for now, SOA swap to lift it up a bit, matching F5's and STMaxx tires. Address the rust issues, and get a lid on it. Sand it all down and re-paint it, I'm thinking dark grey. I think I'll cut the back and put a tailgate in and maybe have a sliding platform in there. I'll get some bars on the top to mount the tent. Going to lengthen the tongue a bit and mount a propane tank up there. Then just simple things like replace all the lights with newer LED units. I'm pretty excited though! I've been keeping an eye out for a good deal on a trailer in good enough shape and this fit the bill perfectly. I was very close to just pulling the $5000 trigger on a trailer from CVT if this trailer didn't shape up to what it was.
I love the 4Runner but I keep thinking more and more about selling and starting on a new project, something bigger with less miles. I've really overhauled this truck and there is A LOT of new parts on it, but I just keep having annoying issues popping up that come with a rig with 265k miles and it's starting to get to me. I'm thinking about a 1st Gen Tundra Access Cab(used to have one that got stolen, and loved it) or a 100 series LC. I want that V8, that will likely get the supercharged treatment eventually. For now I'm going to continue to sort out the 4Runner's little issues, use it a bit to hunt and fish this winter, and start getting the trailer ready for next year, for whatever rig I'll use to pull it. I don't know, I've had bad back problems for over a year and a half now it and it has made having a truck that needs work that much more difficult. Looking to have surgery in December and hope I'll be back in shape again soon. Here is the only picture I took of the new trailer, and some from the trip.

Would hate to see that rig go, but I get it. I keep telling myself that I'll keep this rig forever, but I know if it gets to the point where I'm constantly fixing small things, I'd most likely get something else. Just no clue what that would be.
Oh and dibs on the SC.

Well guys and gals, this build is a wrap. She gave her life for me the other night. Got rear-ended the other night, while at a stop on the freeway by a Ford cargo van going 60+mph. Caused me to roll, and catch on fire. I made it out with a concussion, broken nose, black eye and a few bruises. I don't remember any details of the accident, I just remember waking up in the hospital the next day. When I saw it at the wrecking yard, I really realized then just how lucky I was. Going to miss this truck.

I am glad that you were able to walk away from that. That looked awful. Who got you out of that one? Was if fire, or by-standards? There are a lot of other cars out there that you might not walked away from an impact like that.
I wish you a speedy recovery. I will miss your 4runner. It was definitely one of my favorites for sure. Don't be an any hurry to settle your claim with insurance for yourself. Your vehicle is one thing, but, speaking from experience, give yourself all the time you need on their dime to make sure you make the best recovery possible. It took me several months to make progress from a far lesser impact. Once the initial pain and discomfort subside, check all of your range of motion movements. You owe it to yourself to get sorted.

Damn that's bad. Probably a guy scanning his phone. Good you're ok, hopefully insurance takes care of you well, but can't imagine them making up for all the hard work and upgrades.
