2018 Limited - GTR Ultra 2 H11 - installed

Mine arrived today so of course being the patient individual I am I immediately got to it.

* Passenger side needed to be trimmed down as mentioned earlier. It also helps if you spin it the right direction too. I double checked with the unmodified bulb... still needed to be trimmed down a bit.
* Driver side NO issue.

This leads me to believe the 4 Runner headlight supplier has some fluctuation in tolerance. OK...moving on.

For me...
- they lined up with the same cut off line as the OEM and hotspots are about dead on. Sorry, no pics of this.

Driving around they are BRIGHT! my neighborhood has bad lighting and some of my side streets have none. I was happy with the amount of light.

I do not like the 6k color but thats really not an option at this point with LED so I can live with this.

I took a before and after pic in about the same spot pulled over. This damn iPhone11Pro takes great pics at night so it really wasn't as light out as it seems.

Looks like mine shipped today and I think these look like a pretty decent option as long as they fit. Hopefully don’t have to try and modify them to work though...

It’s really sad that we have to do this. I put OEM led fogs in the other day and they are brighter than my headlights :crazy:

I was just in contact with GTR lighting today. They are working on a new version that will fit the 4 runner housing.
She confirmed these don’t fit the 4 runner at all.

To the people that installed these led bulbs. Did you have to re-aim your headlights at all?

Judging by pictures these are going to majorly suck driving in the rain and especially in snow. Not going to be a pleasant experience as this color range is going to hurt your eyes because of light reflection from the elements is going to be a pain. I cant imagine looking at this bright light for 2-3 hour drive in the boonies even without the rain. Will make your eyes tired. That's not even mentioning LED not providing enough heat to the outside lens when snowing to melt up accumulated snow and icy film. If they would make them in 3500K color range or so, i could see myself trying them out.

On 2nd image the glare looks horrible on the right side coming from pine trees. Did Iphone overexposed the picture or is it that way in real life?

On 2nd image the glare looks horrible on the right side coming from pine trees. Did Iphone overexposed the picture or is it that way in real life?

I think its the varietal of those trees. They look like that when my wife drives by them (2018 Lexus RX) and when I ride by on my bike (2019 Goldwing). The branches/tips always seem frosted.

I agree... the color level on these is bright (6K). I've never had bright lights like this so its a learning curve for me. Then again I also never had a car with such shitty headlights. Guess Ill see how it pans out. I knew the risk when I ordered them and Im good with that.

this color range is going to hurt your eyes .

Personally I liked them, people's sensitivity to color is different as the light hurt the GFs eyes. Contrary to growing a pair I decided to pull them because I care about her.
Had 5.5k color with the morimoto XB headlights and she was fine with that color but in comparison, they were weak with not as much light.
It might be the concentration or amount of light because the OEM fogs are a whiter white than the GTR. She's fine with those

Got mine in via UPS today and they fit. Mostly. If I tried to align the tabs as you would think; largest tab in the largest hole, the heat sink will hit the housing lip in such a way that it won’t turn into place. Turning it to a different orientation where the tabs line up incorrectly but still fit into the tab holes, the bulb can be inserted and twisted into place. I know, strange but it worked and they are locked into place. Another weird note, the driver side has the GTR logo correctly aligned up and down while the passenger side the logo is upside down.

I didn’t have a lot of time to mess with them after work today (I work 12hr shifts) so I didn’t get to fine tune them but they seem pretty ok so far. I did lower the headlights slightly and took a few rides up and down the road.

I’m off work next week so I’ll be trying to fine tune and adjust them then. So far with the OEM LED fogs though, it seems like a decent upgrade. Color temp seems to be pretty close to the OEM LEDs that were in my 2016.5 CX5 GT.

Needs to be at this angle. Anything else I cant see how it can be aligned. You need to give it a firm twist to seat it. Passenger side needs to be filed down to twist in the correct way (in some runners)

I did a double check on fitment and i can see why some people are having trouble fitting them in. Mine is also touching but not hindering it into alignment. It does leave a scratch, if you can call it that, on the heatsink since its so close. You probably can’t fit a piece of paper in that gap. Results are worth it though cause it’s just that much better than stock and the morimoto 2stroke 2.0.

Both the coverage and glare are awful.

Y'all know that a bulb needs to be properly aligned in the housing to work properly, right? Even a minor misalignment can cause issues. Do you really think that taking a dremel to the bulb to make it fit is a good idea?

Dremel is to make it fit in the proper position. So yes, using the Dremel allows the bulb to be placed in position to satisfy the light bulb police

Putting a HID or LED bulb in a halogen housing will never satisfy the law or the light bulb police.

And I doubt that most here know how tight the tolerances need to be to get correct bulb placement in the (correct) housings.

Nah, that's only acceptable when cutting alignment tabs off of overpowered halogen bulbs to make them fit. Doing the same to a non-aligning part of the bulb housing for an LED is clearly unacceptable.

I just received these and installed them today, they fit perfectly in my housing and behind the dust cap (2018). I am curious if anyone else has adjusted the collar on the bulbs and if so, what position are you finding the best results? I have the diodes at the 3-9 position but I’ve heard others place the diodes angled at a 45 degree.
