Guage mounting location suggestions?

I was looking for a place to mount the inclometer (yaw and pitch guage?) I got from the salvage yard, but I am having grater than anticipated diffculty in finding a good place to mount it.

I was going to put it in the slot under the stereo, but that is too small and would require cutting of the dash.

Removing one of the dash vents would work fine, I started to do that and found I still need to cut the dash to mount it there, the hole is about 1/2 inch too small. I would need to cut 1/4 inch into the sides of it to clear the indicator discs. I may just do this, but figured I would ask for suggestions before I cut.

I have thought about on the dash, but it would look "cobbled-up" I think, and I don't want to do a half-way job.

How about in front of your shifter or where they would mount them on the early 4runners on the dash.

I was going to put it on the dash at first, but then as I looked at it more, I just could not find a place that looks good.

I am still thinking of in front of the shifter, right under the stereo.

I do think the air vent would look cool if I can do it right. It will take a little cutting and some trim work, but it is in a great place to be seen easily.

I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. I want to devote some time to getting this done. Also up for this weekend: mounting a trailer hitch so it sticks through my bumper instead of under it, so that will be fun too.
