It "looks" like it's mostly coming from the fill plug but it's also looks like it might be coming form that E brake bracket weld which is where my 1st runner leaked. Judging by the looks of your rust, I would be a little concerned.

If you have actually rusted enough to cause a hole in your axle housing, your frame is probably toast too. My best guess is you just need to remove the fill plug and put a fresh crush washer on there and reinstall the plug. It's suggested that you put fresh crush washers on every time you drain and refill your differential gear oil. A lot of people don't know this and reuse the old washer. With everything on our rigs, engine drain plug, transmission drain plug, transfer case fill and drain plugs, and differential fill and drain plugs, ALWAYS use new washers when you service them. The factory service manual recommends this for a reason.

Took her off the lot brand new in 97'. NY truck here... So that means 20 years of NY winters and the Corrosive crap they put on the roads during the winter. I can't imagine anyone re using old parts.. sort of make the job useless.

Yes i have rust... The Body isn't bad at all.. but i do know that the frame has seen better days.

Going in for a NYS inspection shortly.. i'll have them take a look at it. Might pay to have them repair it if they can while it's there.
