When I bought my 06 about a month ago I was checking it over and noticed there was no cover for the gutter between the roof rack mounts on the passenger side. I asked the salesman and he said they didn't install those on 4runners. Like an idiot I believed him, and was so tired after negotiations, etc. I DIDN"T LOOK ON THE DRIVER SIDE. Well, of course 2 weeks later I go up there to adjust the cross bars and low and behold driver side has gutter cover. I call him up to give him sh*t about it and ask if I should have it (or better yet have them) install it and he claims its purely aesthetic and serves no purpose other than looks. Is this true or should I push for it? Thanks!

I discovered one of mine was missing. When I removed the other I couldn't believe the slime/crud under it.
I then took some generic, round, weather stripping and a touch of black silicone and sealed the ends a bit.
My take is you're better off without them. The channels stay clean and have an opportunity to dry out.
