Go to home depot or lowes. Pick you up some gutter guard. I got the kind that is like 3 ft by like 10" or so..

You need a drill, gutter guard, a 4runner, hands, hacksaw, zipties, and something to trim the metal.. I used metal shears.

Alrighty, pop your hood and asses the situation. There should be 7 clips holding that bad boy on. squeeze and pull.. I can't make it any easier than that... It'll take some messing with.

Take your trusty hack saw and go at it haha, cut on the black bars, on the tops and bottoms as to remove them and leave behind only the really WIDE body 8 shape.. If your picking up what I'm laying down. You want to have your main center bar, and outter edge left behind removing only the "bars" inbetween.

Now that you've cut those out, lay your gutter guard over the grill and mark your length. I started with my bottom hole first. Trim it to length, then leave about an inch and a half to the top and bottom to bend. Ok now center it up and look and to bottom edge, mark where your going to bend it.

To bend, I clamped the gutter guard inbetween 2 pieces of metal and then bent it with a hammer for a perfect straight line bend.

Lay it back into place and mark where to trim out for your toyota emblem. This is tricky.. I took my time with this part..

Next trim your corners, on the far sides of the grill, then mark your top bend.

Clamp, bend, now check and see if it fits. If not trim accordingly until it does. If you bend your top to far up, or to low, bend it straight with your hand, and hammer it out back straight and do a new bend.

Now repeat this on the top section.

Total I had about 2 hours each in my little grills.. But I'm a perfectionist when it come to my hilux haha.

Now drill your zip tie holes. 2 close together per zip tie. Ill let you decide how to go about this, I used about 12 zip ties total for my whole grill.

Looks great man. I have been thinking about this for my 2004 as well. Kansas huh.........well I got two words of wisdom for you.....BOOMER SOONER

That big open land is another reason I want to move back to Oklahoma.

Again, 2 thumbs up on the grille work.

I am building a tube bumper for the front and rear, probably next weekend depending on if i have time or not.. so it would just be waisted time haha. glad to see someone actually looked at the post and appreciated it. if you decide to make the grill and have any questions just ask and ill try my best to help out. i built this one, and one for my dads 04 tacoma. Not to hard as long as you have patience and dont rush haha

Yeah I noticed that too, same color, rims, hahaha! I took off the running boards, i kept hitting my shins!

I've been looking into the Satoshi Mod, but the process looks like a little out of my league, so what you did is looking like a good alternative.

I dont know what the satoshi mod is, sorry! but I didnt regret this mod at all! i was really surprised with how nive it turned out.

lol MikesToy the garage is actually off to the left, maybe ill take a pic sometime. the garage has a 1967 cougar eliminator, 2010 camaro ss, an rv, and my step brothers old jeep haha

Looks a little more complicated, but I agree it does look good. my mod cost me all of about 3 bucks lol, but your free to do whatever you want!! Haha :) good luck
