GX 460 (Premium and Ultra Premium) Test Drive Review/Result

Hey, I just sold mine! I really loved the GX but its way too nice to take anywhere except on the highway and its way too capable to not...

Was this the last design model? GX460. If so, how did it compare to the T4R?

I am probably pulling the trigger on a 2014 ($5K cheaper than 2013) when they land at the dealer in a week. Going to get out of the 2006 470. Sequoia was my other option but side-by-side the GX wins and is cheaper/more capable unless you're only judging on HP/Torque and interior space.

Congrats! Enjoy the new vehicle. A friend has a 460 and really likes it.

I had a heck of a time getting my local dealer to sell me my '12 4Runner. Basically, they barely budged off MSRP and then acted like they were doing me a huge favour. They seemed incredibly reluctant to make a sale. Since they are the only game in town, and own the next closest dealership, I guess they don't want word to get out that they deal. I ended up buying it in Brandon, MB, for a grand less than the lowest price I could get out of my dealer here but I did have to take the Greyhound down the TCH to fetch it. Was a most enjoyable drive home though.

congrats on the purchase! I was considering purchasing one but my fiance and I are expecting a baby and plan on purchasing a house in the bay area within a year so spending 50k on a car wasn't the best option for us. the 4runner was the next best thing and i couldn't be any happier... unless i was driving a gx460.

Hey all! Sorry for the delay, my brother needed help moving in and I couldn't do much on the computer. I was really sad to see my 4Runner go, so my wife and I took a final glamour shot.

Had a weekend with the GX and am loving it. This particular one has every option available including all of the tech features like surround cameras, headrest TVs, etc. which is stuff I likely won't use but its fun having it. Driving the car is like driving a bank vault, it feels damn heavy in kind of a good way but also kind of a scary one (I think it has like 800lbs on 4Runner) and hearing the 8 cylinders bumping around in the engine bay is a cool feeling I gotta admit.

Fingers crossed she stays reliable for me, as I am definitely driving my dream car now.

I am gonna miss this forum, lots of smart mofos here. Also, do any of you have a set of OEM 5th Gen 20 inch wheels for sale? If so I would buy them from you. I am available for any and all GX questions as well!

I was thinking about selling my 4runner and CRV and getting a GX460 for my wife as I hardly drive my 4runner. But I would be modifying the GX460 and I'm not sure how my wife would feel about that.

The color is really excellent in the sun, its grey but has a gold fleck in the metallic which makes a really rich color in the light.

i wanted to get a LS460 AWD but settled for getting a GS350 AWD.

biggest problem i had was getting warranty work done when im 550 miles away. way to much hassle driving 8-9hrs (one way) and taking time off.

so in the end went with a 2014 4runner i hope (dam govt furloughs).

great site and lots of modding ideas. Not as much on the GX side vs. the other platforms - though haven't checked recently on the new model GX. The first mod I did on the GX (besides light bulbs, etc..) was the Nav/entertainment system override so I could watch movies in the front - really just so I could control movies from the front as the remote control and kids don't work well together.

Even if they fit...don't do it!!!!! those rims are simply too narrow.

Really? I enjoyed them quite a bit on my T4R and I have winters that fit them. They are only thinner by half an inch over stock, did you notice a huge change in the driving dynamics?

I have the limited 20" wheels with 5K on them and I'm in Calgary if you are still interested.
