I called a shop in dallas about powder-coating my wheels and they said that it would be 60 a wheel for steel rims but 125 a wheel for alloy wheels. Did you expirenece anything like this

The shops I called made no differentiation between steel and alloy. If there was a differentiation, it was based on size.

I could not find as good as a deal as GYoter did. In the Los Angeles area the best I could find with shop with a good reputation was $300 for all 4 wheels.

Curtis... what was the color that you got your rims powder coated in. How glossy was it?
It is a glossy finish....but not overly so.

The powdercoating shop told me the spray paint that matches the finish is Painters Touch Gloss Black #1979. I used it to paint the center caps....those could not be powdercoated because they are plastic.

Thanks again.. one more ? Where did you get your tundra rims? I want to do my stock sport but am afriad if I dont like it i will be screwed
I followed GYoter's adivce and searched craigslist and eBay.

I found these on eBay already with the Nitto Terragrapplers. I thought the guy's reserve was too high...he was not getting any bids. So I emailed him with what I was willing to pay, but then they sold for what he was asking. The sale didn't go through, so the seller emailed me and accepted my offer. He was in San Diego, so picked them up and avoided shipping charges.

To get the wheels powdercoated, I had to have the tires unmounted.......

The total cost to get these tire/wheels on my 4Runner.....the cost of the wheels/tires, unmounting, powdercoating, remounting/move TPM's, and balancing was about $800.

I have the stock rims and tires in the garage....I really should try and sell them.

I like the way those tundra rims look.. but I'm a college student trying to save money. So the new rims are probably out.. Do you think the stock rims would look good PCed.

As a 41 year old that went through the college experience and has some hindsight.....I say save your money.

What rims do you have now? Got a pic?

I still say save your money while you are in school. :D

But yeah....I think they would look good pc'd black.

Heh, i just stumbled across this thread. I guess i am a couple months late. Haven't been on the forum much. Sounds like you got your questions answered, i just thought i would finally reply.

I am going to be selling my sport edition rims soon, with tires and pressure sensors and 3 spare unmounted tires. PM if interested.

Well I hoping I can swing my parents into gettig this for my 20th B-DAY.:D

Before you totally nix the idea, find out how much you can get for your stock rims ebay first. That $800 total will be DRASTICALLY reduced if you sell what you have and not keep them in the garage. That is, if you like the PC'd rims.
