H.I.D. with factory alarm

I know this has been somewhat covered, but I can't seem to find an exact answer for what I am looking for. My factory alarm puts on the headlights for 30 seconds after I lock the car whether the headlights/foglights are in the on or off position.

I am looking into getting and HID set (I know all about them and the consequences), but I am worried about burning out a bulb because of the alarm/headlight deal. Can this be turned off? I know several people here have HID's... what did you do to solve this problem? Thanks to anyone that can help.

I have HIDs. I have an aftermarket alarm so my headlights don't blink at all when it goes off. They wired it so that only my side marker lights flash.

I'm pretty sure you can get a shop to rewire your alarm for you. It's not good for HIDs to be turned on and off too frequently. 30 sec. is barely enough for the HIDs to get warmed up.

I have factory alarm with HIDs. What did I do? nothing. Justdon't set off the alarm! Yes its bad.. but its not detrimental to the bulbs.

you might look at a wiring diagram and see if you can route it to the high beams instead.

nope..... should they? I don't mind it turning on... I just don't like it when it keep flashing on-off with the alarm. What flashes are my turnsignal lights.

flashing = bad for HID bulbs.
turning on = good.. cuz then I can see.

My lights come on when I lock/unlock the car for about 30 seconds... I felt like that wasn't long enough for the HID bulb to warm up without doing some damage. I understand what you are saying... if the alarm goes off, the lights flash. I guess that you just allow the lights to come on when you unlock/lock the car?

Me too...I will have to find out if this was a new feature in 05 or if it can be activated on mine. I did not think that they had made any changes to the alarm.

I have the factory VIP alarm and when I lock/unlock the only thing that flashes are the turn signals. That's the way it's suppose to be. Headlights only flash when the alarm is set off.

Actually what I want to do is activate this and then rewire it so that my fogs and reverse lights come on. This should have no effect on the flashing of your corner bulbs and the flashing of the headlamps when the alarm is triggered.

Yeah you could rewire it to the fogs or the high beams and it would be fine... anyone know how to do this? Maybe the toyota dealership would do it for me...?

when my alarm arm/disarms.. my headlights have nothing to do with it. How come you guys have your headlights turn on when you arm/disarm. I didn't see this in the programming manual.

That's bad for Halogen lights too?

When I turn the alarm on/off the DRL's flash but not the headlights.

That's the way I understood it as well. Doesn't sound right to me. My headlights don't come on at all when arm/disarm from remote.

any 05 members confirm that your headlights turn on when you disarm you lights? I know that they turn off if you arm it..... but yea..... I feel empty.
