H.I.D. with factory alarm

That's correct. When pushing the panic buttom the car :chirps and parking lights flash. The question is though how do you disable the panic buttom if you have HID? Rewiring to the fog or headlights...that is what you guys are suggesting..Has anyone done it , pictures, diagrams anyone? Thanks

I don't have HIDs, but I seem to have read somewhere that the HID bulbs themselves aren't that expensive... true? I mean, if they were to burn out quicker, the replacement cost wouldn't be 1/2 the cost of the whole system. Certainly, correct me if I'm wrong, but I just a thought since some members seem to be worried about replacing the bulbs and even the lower quality PIAA bulbs can be more expensive than standard HID ones from what I've heard.

HID bulbs are easily 150-300 bucks. I know its a big range.. but it depends on where you get them. I think our Lexus dealership wants around $300 bucks for one HID lightbulb so its no way cheaper then a halogen bulb. They go for about $100 a bulb on the internet.

"Will DRL (daytime running lights) or Auto Switch On effect the HID kit?

For vehicles with DRL that use the same bulb for both DRL and low beam you will need to deactivate your DRL. DRL operate on reduced wattage or fluctuating current levels. This will cause the HID system to flicker and burn out prematurely. Please ensure that your OEM headlight harness is providing a constant 12V to ensure that no damage will be caused to the HID system"

This issue and the alarm flashing headlights issue are similar... hope this helps.

05 and lights

With my 05, the lights (interior, front headlights, running board lights) come on whe I use the fob to unlock -- however, this only happens at night.

Day or night, there is flashing of the DRLs and a "beep" when I lock it (arming the factory alarm) or unlock it (disarming).

Interesteringly, at night, when I'm locking the truck using the fob, the lights stay on for that 30 seconds unless I push the lock button again and they turn off immediately.

I wonder why it's different than mine, my headlights never come on, day or night, when I use the fob to lock/unlock. Only the DRLs and rear turn signals flash when I lock/unlock, of course the running boards and interior lights also come on when I unlock.

my 04 SE's headlights don't turn on when i unlock/lock my car, but my brother's g/f's 4runner SE (same as mine just purchased a month after i got mine) headlights do turn on when she locks/unlocks her car. Same exact model just hers had leather seats and some red button next to her Trac control button.. i figured it was the optional alarm.. so i'm not sure just my lil input.

maybe its people with the aftermarket alarms... because none of our 4runners nor any of the ones I've seen... turn on the headlights when you disarm the alarm.

Or maybe it's a programmable feature, that some dealers turn on, and others don't?

Know this is an old thread but I'm looking to get HIDs and was just wondering what the effect is on them when the factory alarm is triggered.

Since the parking and OEM halogens flash when panic mode or entry on activated alarm occurs, wonder how HIDs can handle the flashing mode? I assume that can't be good for the bulbs? Any bad experiences out there having their HIDs flash while the alarm is tripped? Anyone rewire to bypass the low beams for the factory alarm? Just wondering before I make my purchase. Thanks in advance.

Is it the parking lights that flash or the directionals?. I did rewire my HIDs so they only work IF the parking lights are on (I can flash high beams during the day and only the high beams flash). I haven't looked, but you may be able to rewire the alarm to flash Highs instead of Lows.

Looks like the directionals bulb flashes not the parking ones. That's an idea to try to rewire the hi's to flash during the alarm trigger so the HIDs remain off. Anyone try this?
