H3...v8

Falls

I was reading that the H3 will be getting a small V8 soon . Not sure what size though.

That should help , that was a HUGE turn off to me with the inline 5 cyl. ......so slow !! Other than that I liked it .

The '07 H3 has a slightly bigger engine making 242 Hp/ 242 tq, but the torque comes at pretty high RPM (?!!). The H3 has a lot of potential.

Falls, have you testdriven the '07 H3 yet?? If so, then did you notice any difference in power/acceleration to the old H3??

Yes I did , the minimal amount of HP seems to make litte if no diff. A little better throttle response but still way under powered IMO. It would ,be like adding a K&N FIPK to the older version.

I've heard the small V8 will be out end of 07 or in 08 , unless thet run out of money first....lol I think it would be a great move for them. The only thing I did'nt like about the H3 was the power for daily driving. The off road ability and articulation driving through the obsticle course were amazing to me. Its quite a capable off road vehilce .

Thai, They are also switching to cast iron axles from what I hear. Granted these are the rumors floating around the dealership and I've read on some Hummer blogs.

Cast iron rear axle?? Do they want to lower the fuel economy to that of the H2?!!:D

From what i have read, GM/Hummer needs to concentrate on the FRONT differential which is apparently aluminum and has broken on several H3's during mild-moderate off-roading.

And i hope that GM/Hummer will make the ATRAC + rear locker synchonization like what Toyota is doing to the special edition FJ Cruiser.

I think they are talking about the front axle from what I gathered.

What is the rear made of ? Do you know ?

I like the H3 bad azz stance. It looks a heckuva lot better than our 4Runner's stance. I'd strongly consider buying the H3 if they put a good small V8 engine into it. I feel it should be at least 280 hp/ 280-300 ft lbs torque. Obviously, GM wouldn't be smart enough to put that much power into this vehicle---- it would make too much sense.
