Hail Damage

Hi,
I am a new member but I have been lurking since I bought an 04 v6 4runner last July. I ran into a hail storm on May 27th that shattered the windshield and severely dented the vehicle. Does anyone have any experience dealing with insurance companies and how this is typically handled? I have state farm and there is no deductable. We had an adjuster come out today and he appraised the damage at $9600 and would cut off the roof, replace every panel on the drivers side including doors and the hatch. The passengers side is not as badly damaged so they will just fix the dents on that side. I would like it totalled out but I have to reach between $12-$13K worth of damage. Does anyone know if a bodyshop will say the damage is going to cost more than the appraised value to fix it? Do the replacement parts come from Japan? Any help is appreciated.

:jaw drop: whoa, $9600 in hail damage?! I think I'd probably cry if that happened to a vehicle of mine. We did have a hail storm a few months ago that put holes in my vinyl siding on my house, but luckily I wasn't out driving in it at the time.

I guess you could take it to a reputable body shop and get another opinion and estimate and see how it compares to what State Farm quoted you. Good luck with everything.

It was pretty bad. I will post pictures when my wife comes back from Colorado. She has the memory cards and won't be back for a while. It is the gold color so it hides the dents pretty well and the appraiser admitted that it was extremely bright and dirty so he said that is just the starting point.

WOW !!! 9600$ ??? That;s bad......Sorry to hear that...Mine 4Runner was scratched not so long time ago so I know how much it hurts...:(
As for repair, try to find Toyota Certified Collision Center and see how much they think it is going to cost to fix it. When my runner was scratched, I went to small body shop and I asked how much would it cost to fix it. They said around 1000$. Then I went to Toyota and they charged 2800$. Since I didn't pay, I went with Toyota. I think they are one of the most expensive and maybe they'll be able to reach $12-$13K.
