Handles/Hooks

Is there any way to add handles or hooks in the rear of the 3rd gen T4R? Sort of like the handles by all of the doors to hang onto or to hang a clothes rod. I'd want to hang a rod in the rear but I don't have any handles/hooks....

Interesting question. I looked in my service manual and they did not have a grab handle in the rear even on 4runners with 3rd row seating. Here is a shot from the manual that shows the hard point for the seat belt mount. It is near the rear window.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look. Doesn't look familiar...I didn't know that a 3rd row was even an option on an 01.

I'm pretty sure they didn't sell the 3rd row in the US. I would be curious to see a picture of one if anyone has seen one.

So bottom line, if you take off the rear plastic you may be able to find a suitable place to drill holes, but there isn't much as far as factory holes.

Do you think that 3M adhesive would hold a grip handle/hook? I would then use that to hold a fishing rod, or clothing bar....nothing too heavy.

Probably not, but if you drilled screws into the plastic, I think that would hold.

If you wanted to you could take the panel out. Drill a hole through the plastic then secure the hook with a fender washer and nut on the back of the panel.

Good point. How hard is it to take out the panel? and then put back in....
