Hands Feee phone

I have been trying unsucessfully to transfer my Blackberry addres book data into the hands free phone's phone book. I can connect via the Bluetooth connection but when I go to transfer the data, the Bluetooth connection is lost. Any ideas as to why?

PS I too am mightly peeved that the override function is no more. Its nice to have the passenger able to manipulate the systerm while in motion!

What provider do you have? I can't transfer the phonebook from my Verizon phone to the nav.

I am not completely sure about this, but from what I have read blackberry bluetooth stack is pretty secure and locked down. (I have an 8700g and done some experimentation with it.) I am not sure if anything can access the address book over bluetooth. I have paired up my blackberry for hands free use with the 4th gen toyota NAV, but did not access the address book.

Contrary to what carriers tell customers and faulting the automaker or manufacturer of the Bluetooth kit, it lies in the phone/handset and the carrier themselves for having the handset locked down. Verizon recently settled a class action suit over it.

Sprint says the Treo650 isn't compatible with certain Bluetooth headsets and Denso (Toyota/Lexus) BT kits. They determine compatibility based on call quaility and if it interfaces with the phone. My Treo650 works perfectly with the nav, never loosing the connection or dropping the call. I can make calls off the nav dial pad or by voice command. The only gripe I have is I can't transfer contacts at once, I have transfer one entry at a time.

See if the Blackberry will allow you to transfer each entry individually. That worked with the Treo650. A real PITA for 100+ entires, so I just loaded the folks who I call the most in speed dial and the rest I just dial them off the Treo. Not a completely hands free solution, but answering calls is more important.
