Happy Texas Independence Day to all you folks in the lone star state. I'll be popping open a few Lone Star beers this evening. Anyone else have plans for how to celebrate the greatest state in the good 'ole USA?

When I was in Texas public schools, April 21 was a holiday.
That changed long after I was out.

Boy, I don't remember that. It still should be though. Along with March 2nd of course.

21-April is my dad's birthday so made it a special holiday. But if it occurred on a weekend - tough luck, no Monday school holiday.
Public schools were also required by state law to teach Texas-History.
