Hardwired Radar Detector

I hardwired my V1 in mine. Pretty easy.

Just tap into an accessory wire and a ground wire - the ones that go to the back of the stereo are easiest to get to.

Vortec4800, where is your detector at? Below the rear view mirror? Do you have a wire coming out of the center piece (the stereo area)? Gotta pic of your dash/windisheild from the inside with the detector?

(Thanks for the 2-3 way speaker explanation also)

The location is right above the dash in the middle of the windshield. That's where I like it best, but your results may vary. I have a wire that goes straight down into the dash, and just tucks in between the dash and the windshield. It runs all the way to the driver side of the windshield and goes down into the dash area there. From there it goes up underneath and into the center console area where I tapped it into the stereo leads. The wire is completly invisible, except for the couple inches that go from the V1 down to the dash. I don't have a pic here, and I tried looking for an old pic of my Rover with my V1 (it was wired exactly the same) but I can't find it. Hopefully my explination will suffice!

While I was installing my chromatic compass mirror, I also wired in my V1... I found with the new mirror, I couldn't wedge the V1 horizontally, so I went with the visor clip on the visor...

Popped out the overhead console and pulled the wire through there, and tucked it into the headliner, down the A-pillar to the footrest area... Put the remote on the steering column... (VA sucks! Radar detectors are illegal..)

I am a litttle confused. You say the wire goes straight down into the dash- is it above or below the dash at this point? Then it runs to the driver side of the windshield?
What is that grated area in the center, on the far side of the dash at the bottom of the windshield? Can I pull the wire through there, then into the center console area to hook up to the stereo leads?

Here is where I have mine because I can not fit it above my mirror.

Well the wire goes straight down into the seal on the windshield, where it goes to the side because that's where it can get into the dash. I do this so you can only see the wire for the couple inches that go straight down and hide between the windshield and the dash. Does that help?

I did what blue GP did w/ my V1.....I like it there, because it will catch my eye w/ the lights if I have the radio cranked....plus the sunvisor is fully functional, too.
