Harness swap

Been looking around for a injector harness and ECU for my 89. Everyone seems to thing the ECUs are gold and that you gotta cut all the plugs off the harness to remove them.

Now I have had a thought for a while but haven't wanted to undertake the project. Im thinking about swapping everything from my 86 over to the 89.

Im just wondering if the dash is really the hardest part of it? I pulled the dash on the 86 already(sorry no pics, camera was nowhere to be found). It didn't take that long once I figured out where all the nuts, bolts and screws are. Just a total pain. If I do it I think I can have it done this weekend. Ill take pics this time.

I really don't want to but its come down to it. Lots of work but if I can get my 4runner going it will be worth it.

I don't think it will benefit you do do that swap. I don't think your ECU is bad based on the testing you did earlier. IF you can find an engine harness from an 89 then you can replace just that.

YES, pulling the dash is the hardest part of removing the harness and ECM.
Just make sure you know where everything came from so you can hook it back up.
