Yep, have one very similar, and it works very well. Use the Torque app with it, and combined, they give lots of info... and wirelessly!

For the price, I'd highly recommend one of them. Good thing to carry in case a code comes up.

Yes, but you need one that isn't so tall, it will be sticking down towards your leg/feet while attached to the odb2 connection. Look for something like this: Super Mini ELM327 V2 1 OBD2 II Bluetooth Diagnostic Car Auto Interface Scanner Y | eBay

I have one bought it on ebay and use the Torque ap they work great.

Only on newer models of 4Runners. I believe it's only '99+ or '00+ that have the sensor. My 98 does not. If you have the sensor, the reader and Torque will show the temps.

I have a 2002. Next week I am do a DYI flush and trans cooler and fan. This would be great, while I am doing a thermostat, I am also doing a cut off switch for winter driving, I will definitely install with one of these and see if it meet my tempt gauge needs

Yes and a whole lot more! You're gonna like all the various outputs provided. Torque lets you configure endless sets of guages in endless styles/sizes/layouts all for about $5. Once configured, it just works automatically. :cowboy:
