i purchased a viper 5701 online that said it was factory refurbished for around $100. i also purchased the audio sensor and tilt sensor seperately. i highly doubt that all the ones that you can buy online are stolen. and i saw that that if you dont have it professionally installed then there is no warranty for it. but i wasnt about to pay somebody hundreds of dollars to install it when they are human just as i am. its not like a robot was installing it. i feel like i would be able to install it a lot better than someone that doenst give a crap about my car. if you do a good job of soldering and heat shrinking wires then your car is not going to catch on fire, the people you pay to do it are just going to try and get your car out as fast as possible and you probably have a better chance of something going wrong with the alarm. considering i had never put an alarm in a car before it did take me longer time but i did it all in one day. it would have been less time but i hadnt realized i had the on/off switch for the remote start switched to off so i went over all my connections a second time before i remembered the stupid switch. i read alot of different sites while i waited for the alarm to be shipped which helped but all it is figuring out which wires go where and soldering them together. there was a good post on toyotanation where someone installed it in a tundra and bulldogsecurity.com has a fairly good wiring diagram.
