Has anyone painted their OEM 6 Spoke rims black?

here are mine, they are p.c.'d though. right after a detail so not showing any road grime but i think they look good. i rattle can'd the center caps, here they are a little shinier then the wheels but with a little road dirt on them they blend pretty good.

i used a quick dry flat black paint as my primer and black metallic paint by krylon @ home depot

Plasti-Dip or Home Depot stuff?

I used a coarse wire brush attachment for my drill and sanded the clear coat off and took it down to bare metal. I then applied Rust-oleum Self Etching Primer. After the primer dried I applied Rust-oleum High Performance Enamel.

For the center caps I hand sanded them with 150 grit sand paper then used Krylon automotive primer and then rust-oleum High Performance Enamel.

Since I painted them at the end of summer I've gone thru some deep mud with debris rubbing the rims with no paint chipping or scuffing. I'm pretty impressed with the outcome.

Old thread yes, but I’m about to paint mine and have got to ask, is that satin or a semi gloss?

I'm not sure if you want to just paint the rims, more often than not you won't get very good adhesion and it'll look like crap 6 months down the road. This is something you want professionally done through the use of powder coating and such.
