has anyone put a 1st gen 4Runner inclinomter in a 3rd gen?

if you do that because of the way the dash it it is tilting. wondering if anyone has put it in the center area or anything.

did a search and found one thread where the guy put it where the ashtray is. looked good but there is no write up. i also have one that i want to install just don't know where to start. mine main question is how he wired up the lights to work. if i knew that id be more inclined to give it a try

yeah thats all i found. but he just stops it, and says it works for 98 and mine is 99. may end up just throwing it on the dash and call it good. wont look that good and would take quite a bit of vision out but oh well, thats what spotters are for.

My dash is the same as the one he posted and I have a 2000. I was thinking about the dash but I dont want to cut it up and I do want to wire it so I'm stuck with cutting up my interior pieces

yeah i dont want to start just hacking away at my DD at this point. did some winter cleaning and the d**n thing got moved so some box otherwise it would be in there now...

I bought the guts of a 1st gen clino for $20 a while back. I plan on making a custom housing for it and mounting it in the place of the ash tray. I started this project this summer, but kind of lost interest. I hope to pick it back up this winter while I'm stuck in the house.

The tough part for me is that I don't have the panel, so I don't have a back-lit scale on the gauges, just the dials. I am not sure what I am going to do about that. If I could find just the panel without the guts, or with broken guts for cheap, that would be perfect.

if you dont have the light just get those little ones at autozone or something and mound them behind them in the housing your making.

The guts have what look like some mounting points for little bulbs that go to what looks like little lenses on the front side. I figured I would just put some LED's there for backlighting.

That isn't the part I was talking about though. I am talking about the front panel that has the scale on it. The panel is translucent to transmit the backlighting, and I don't know how I can recreate that without having an actual original part.
