Has anyone removed the chrome trim from a Limited?

Has anyone removed the chrome trim from the front bumper and fog lights on a Limited? Is there a write up somewhere? I’ve tried to search, but didn’t see any info on removing the front bumper trim.

Any help is appreciated.

I’m sure you’ll find removal instructions if you search for altering Limited trim such as plastic-dip. No reason to remove it otherwise at least until the Nightshade trim is readily available.

I Plasti Dipped some of the chrome on my '13 Limited. And ... it's reversible if ya don't like it. Sorry 'bout the pix, I never took good ones before I traded it in.

I Plasti Dipped mine a couple of years ago. It held up pretty well. It started to peel in a couple of spots, so I decided to peel it off and re-do it or just leave the chrome. The problem is, I can t get into the spaces between the pieces to get the original Plasti dip off.

I want to remove the chrome pieces and clean them up, then re-apply the Plasti dip while they are off. Either that, or take the pieces to a vinyl wrap shop and have them done.

I just can’t find a write upon how to remove them. I guess I’ll go out and brave the cold (Michigan) and figure it out. I just don’t want to do something stupid that will require me to purchase new parts. :noidea:

Probably not the best idea. Plastic will get very brittle in cold weather and you stand a greater chance of breaking off some clips and tabs. Especially since you are not sure where to be pulling and prying.

Good info, thanks. I'm new to the 4Runners. I have a 2011 SR5 and I'm also a newb when it comes to customizing but I'm willing to learn some basics. :)
When it comes to modifying different things, is the process basically the same between the various styles (limited, SR5, etc.) or does it vary by year, or both?
 
I’m thinking about getting a gen5 limited and swapping out the bumpers to look like a pro. Seems like an easy swap. I believe the front aluminum bar needs to be replaced but everything else is plug and play. I would rather do that route then mess with the chrome [emoji13]

This sounds what I would like to do. Want a limited but hate the look!
 
Mine gets coated in mud & dust every time it is driven and it disappears, for a while. When God cleans it with rain I get to do it all over again.
