I replaced my brakes yesterday and while taking off the rear wheel one of the lug nuts loosened about half way and then would not turn so I broke the stud trying to get it off.
Has anyone replaced a rear wheel stud?

A few years ago after getting new tires at Goodyear I discovered I had 4 cross-threaded lug nuts on two wheels. Wound up having it fixed for almost $100.
Manager at Goodyear gave me the "How do we know you didn't cross thread them yourself?"
'Cause I'm not a fucking asshole with an impact driver.

I had the same problem several years ago at a Discount Tire. Luckily, if I recall correctly, they offered to cover the cost of the replacement.
Didn't cost too much and was done relatively quickly.
Probably not too hard to do yourself, make sure to search some of the other forums as well and you'll surely find a bunch of info from others who have done it.
Why do you say "Thanks Firestone" ?? Did a shop do it? If so, make them pay for the replacement and get it done at a shop.

I searched the threads and didn't see anything about the rear studs. The front is no problem at all to change but the rear is a pain because of the e-brake assy.
Well you have to disassemble the rear e-brake to get the new stud in and the hub is in the way so I couldn't get to the retention springs that hold the brake shoes on.
Well after cursing up a storm I wound up taking it to the stealer and paying $75 for them to replace the stud and turned out that I needed 2.
I must say though that the new frozen rotors and hawk break pads ROCK!!
The breaking is so much better and the pedal feel is much, much better ...almost a night a day difference.

Sorry I can't be of more help ... in my case, when I took the truck in all the lugs were fine, and when I got it back, they mentioned that one had stripped .... so I argued with them that obviously it happened due to something they did, that I don't use or own an impact, etc. They owned up to it pretty quickly, probably because they knew it was their fault ... which is strange, because normally no shop will admit to ANYTHING they screw up.
