Has anyone seen/fabricated "scrub bars" for a 3rd gen?

Landcruisers with ARB bumpers sometimes have fender armor, or "scrub bars" that can protect the fender and even minimize damage if the vehicle rolls on its side. Usually they are welded from the ARB bumper straight into the rock sliders, as pictured below.

Has anyone seen these on a 3rd gen 4runner? Would it be possible to have them fabricated for when I inevitably install a Deluxe Bull Bar on my 4runner?

Never seen them before. Look pretty easy for someone good at tube bending to make.

Something like that might protect the fender flare from light brush or even really small trees, but in a rollover they're going to smash the shit out of the fenders.

A full exo cage can work, but they're heavy, make it a PITA to open doors and hoods and such, make wind noise going down the highway, and generally look like ass.

IMHO, you're miles ahead by just driving carefully and not putting 10lbs of 4runner in a 5lb space.

Agreed, looks like a damage multiplier on a roll over. Might protect you with a narrow rock passage though.

As long as you don't contact said rock passage! :heh: With that node hanging out in space, it's going to deflect right into the fender.

This is how a buddy of mine did his mini-truck. Fine for trail use, but I wouldn't want to daily drive it. Me? I just let the trail do the body work for me.

Yeah those are not intended for much more than tree limbs. And they are NOT welded to either the bumper or the sliders in the ARB format.

Yeah if you were really interested they would be very easy for a guy to make with a bender like mentioned above. Could even make em with some sorta clamp so you could remove them if desired. I think the arb ones are clamp on or something to that effect. Like iballengineer said i dont believe they are welded...

when considering any sort of armor, you have to think in terms of leverage. think about how far the middle of the bar is from any sort of support. the farther away it is from the mount the more easily it will bend. same thing goes for a bull bar on the top of the bumper.

1: the truck had a heavy duty rear section that helped distribute the weight.
2: he flopped in mud which would distribute the weight much better than say a rock.

AND

That bar is like TWO inches, not just 1-1/4.
That is super soft sand
