So I need some good input from ya'll. Both of my cv boots are torn and I'm actually about to order my coilovers so I decided to try and kill it all in one shot.

I know that all i need is the boots but my plan is to replace the CV's, and get the OEM's re-built with the lifetime warranty thing at Napa. That way i have an extra set.

So i could get these and save a $100+ and not get a life time warranty

I could go to Napa or O'Reilly's and pay around $200 for another aftermarket set but with a life time warranty.

I'm freaking exhausted so i may be thinking craziness. Tell me this link isn't a good deal?

You should be able to get a pair of cv's from o'reallys for ~$120 reman/without warranty, or $200 for lifetime warranty, brand new. So compared to the remans you're not saving much. and if you're going to keep your truck for a few years, the lifetime warranty is really useful... good luck.
also: try asking for a locals discount or something like that, they'll usually give you 10% if you ask.

I'll check it out. I priced out a couple shops and so far napa and O-Reilly's are around the same for the remans. The only thing is they charge a $100 fee if I don't give them my old ones.

all stores will have a core charge on the remans. It's a non-issue as long as you bring back your old ones, regardless of condition. (I don't know why you'd want to keep them.....)
I don't think the brand new ones will require a core charge though. you can give them to someone else who will use them for a core, if that's your route.

So i can get that fee refunded to me? Basically i'm gonna try to do both on the same day. I'm trying to make less trips to the shop as possible. From what it sounded like, they would charge me the $100 core fee then and there. I guess if they refunded it to me after i did the install that's cool too.

MOST aftermarket CVs are made with junk steel that is poorly heat treated. They break easily and can break inside the front diff. This can be a real issue. They also are known to bind at full droop. I won't even carry one as a spare.

The way I see it, use OEM rebuilds or Lotus Axles A.D.D. - Lotus Chromoly Axles. - ?96-?02 4Runner and ?95.5-?04 Tacoma - Lotus Development

I have heard that the NAPA axles are not too bad.

Get your OE axles re-booted.

I just got two re-manufactured CV's from Napa and I believe they were right around the 100 price point, after getting the core charge back. Hard to beat. It was nearly 30 bucks for the boot kit, and 50 for the whole axle. Considering my CV with a ripped boot had 170k miles on it, I opted for a whole new/reman'd axle for the extra 20, and no hassle of rebooting.

I don't believe that "reman" means that it is reman OE parts.

damn....NAPA in Hawaii costs me 170 for ONE CV without returning core...with return its ends up being 60 though.

I bought new A-1 Cardone from parts geek. I off road on rocks in southwest about one a month and they have lasted over a year with no problems. The Lotus ones are good if you want to spend that much. This is what I got. $50

i just recently replaced one of my CVs with reman'd OEM CVs from NAPA and with i believe a 3 year warranty they were only $56 after core return.
the core charge itself was ~$110 i believe.

cant beat the price and warranty for it.

thanks for the input guys! So now that i'm kinda more lucid, it seems like the best option would be to buy the ones I linked. Then i can get some reman ones by trading in the ones i currently have. So all in all, i pay about $250 for 2 sets of new and remaned CV's. One with life time warranty and the other with a 12 month warranty.
I understand the crappy quality these ones can be but this would make it so i pretty much wont ever have to buy CV's again and i cant really see any negative effects of this

my other options are to buy ONE pair for a little over $200
Buy the remaned ones for about $120

anyway sorry I'm totally in problem solving mode, ive got finals coming up so i tend to over think things lol! I don't really wheel my rig hard like some people here but i do take it off road a lot. I think having an extra set is worth the extra money?

I have one brand new spare that I keep on me at all times and another brand new one in my parts bin. Both spares come with me when I plan on offroading. They're both Advanced Auto axles but who cares when they're lifetime warranty and didn't require a core to buy them. I got a pair for $100 back in the day and every so often go up there when it's time for a new one.

Even if I tare a boot, I don't have to deal with the messy ass reboot job. Just pop in the spare and take the messed up one back to be replaced for a new one. Surprisingly I've only torn one boot and it was my OEM one before I got a diff drop. It ended up snapping anyways. I've never torn an Advanced Auto boot. Either they're tough or the axles don't last long enough with me to worry about the boot haha.

I have been wheeling with one Autozone CV and one CVJ for a while now. The Autozone 60 dollar one is holding up better than the CVJ for gods sake. And it has been put through hell.
