Has anyone used carista with an aftermarket dongle that works?

I tried with my cheap OBD2 dongle but it wouldn't connect, it claims some of the cheaper dongles don't support true elm327
Has anyone used a similarly priced dongle to caristas that they can link?
I can't find any concrete info that it will work with carista and caristas dongle is backordered.

I don’t know what dongles the Carista app will reliably connect to, other than it’s own.
But I also use another app on the iPhone with my Carista dongle and it warns about using cheap chinese clones that don’t properly support the standards. But if you do try to use a cheepie clone make sure it’s not marked as V2.1, they have lots of bugs.

These are the brands it claims *are* good:
Kiwi 3, Viecar, V-Gate, Carista, LELink, Veepeak.

Yeah I saw all those mostly saw the ones for $50 to $100 I was hoping to keep it under that since Curry still only charges $30

I found a really old thread on a 4Runner page that says one of the Amazon ones work it should come today and I will update if it does work so hopefully someone can use that knowledge in the future.

The adapter from Amazon DOES work! I just customized all my settings!
