I've searched a few times and googled a lot and found a few old threads about the 99 talltails as well as OME 880-881-906-890 as well as what the shock/strut combo but still have a hard time figuring out what may be the best route for me. Its been beaten like a dead horse on here and I apologize for being a super noob.
I have a 2002 sr5 and was doing an oil change this past weekend on it and saw the the right rear spring and right left spring were super rusty but also the bottom in the perch was chipped on the left and broken on the right on the bottom of the springs. I have about 220k miles on mine, im the 5th owner, I know at some point the springs/shocks have been replaced but it seems the rear is sagging more and the broken spring seems to be why.
So ive searched a few times and working at another dealer in town I had the parts department ask the local Toyota dealer we work with to price me at my cost the 99 springs, they were around $435. Seems kinda prices have changed since the 2010 thread I was looking at..
Id like to keep mine at current height or maybe 1" lift. I am running Yoko Geolander H/T 265/75/16. Im all stock besides tires and the running borads removed. no armor or bumpers, we do a little camping but nothing to really weigh down the car besides usual gear plus a car seat + kid and a dog in the back.
Seems the normal setup with struts are the Bilstein 5100 series, I'd stick with the non adjustable ones or the 4600 series struts. Looking on the 4wheelparts website it shows 5100 series fronts adjustable and the rears are not, is there a front 5100 series thats non-adjustable? or are all 5100 series front struts adjustable and the rears are not?
My issue is the springs, and my main confusion of whats what. On 4wheelparts I was looking at the OME springs, 881 and 880 for front shows .5-1" lift and light duty, The rears 906 or 890 show 1.5" lift and are medium duty. Wouldn't that make some negative rake on the car and look funny? Doing some reading on here shows a lot of people go with the 906 setup. Or does it all balance out some and should I stick with just getting the 880's on the front and 906's on the rear?
Any input or ride setup would be great, not really looking for any thing higher then a 1-2" lift max, per getting in my garage and dog/kid getting in.
