Have $$$, need factory add-on options!!!

A friend on mine is getting a 2017 Limited. Her dad said she can spend $50k, but it HAS to be charged by the dealer (e.g., she can't buy it later from a 3rd party). Stupid I know, but those are the rules.

Question: Are there any add-ons the dealer can install (or contract with a 3rd party) above what already comes on a Limited? Lift? Fridge? Roof-rack upgrade? Sport hood on the limited? Supercharger?

Let's build something awesome!!

It depends on the dealer, but I'm sure most will be happy to add in aftermarket parts if they're making more money off of a customer.

Lift and tires are the two things I know at least one dealer has done. That being said, just because she can get something done doesn't mean she should. What does she plan on doing with the 4R?
 
Sorry man. You can't build something "awesome" from a dealer. You can get some wheels or racks or running boards. Some dealers will lift it using their stuff which is usually a simple spacer lift.
With that said you are only talking about 4-5K in mod money. New Wheels and tires will set you back 2K of that. Best bet is to just look at the Toyota website in your area code and start picking out doo-dads offered by Toyota.

Really just a mall cruiser. She's more interested in stuff you would find on a luxury SUV like an XC90, like blind spot monitoring, big nav screen, A/C seats. But I think I've convinced her on the 4runner for more practical reasons.

Yea, I fully optioned a Limited and the dealer quoted $43,400 for it. It's a family/friend situation, so maybe the price is a bit cheaper than normal?

I was hoping there were some more options outside of what's on the website.

Why would you try and convince her to get something she doesn't want? It's her car and if she wants things like blind spot monitoring, better nav, cooled seats, other safety features then that's what she should get. There are no "practical reasons" to get a 4Runner if those are the features she wants because the 4R has NONE of those. She will regret getting the 4R down the road. Honestly, sounds like you're playing with money you're not spending and making recommendations based on what you would buy. If she wants an XC90 then that's what she should get.
 
GX460 = All of what she wants, with the platform you are suggesting.

Yea when I said "i've convinced", i think that was too strong. All i'm trying to do is help her make a much more informed decision. Things like reliability and resale value are important factors that often don't get evaluated during the purchase decision because they're not sexy features you can see/touch on a vehicle. She's trading in a 2012 JGC that has been nothing but troubles but was purchased because it had the "features"...Now she cusses it lol.
 
Dude tell her to get the XC90, if you don't need the offroad ability the XC90 is a much better vehicle not even in the same league. Even the Limited is lacking features common on other luxury SUVs.

THe XC90 was too big for my wife but we plan on replacing her s60 with the XC60 when it comes out. Volvo styling and interior is killing it right now.

If she really wants the 4Runner it just depends on what she wants to do with it. It doesn't sound like she wants to offroad, so lifts and stuff don't make sense. I know one of the dealers near me sells real lifts and offroad gear and is an ARB dealer; an ARB fridge with dual battery is pretty handy day to day if you are trying to spend money. Other than that I'm not sure what else to add on other than floor mats, the rear cargo cover and maybe if they have any other merchandise she wants.

tl;dr
it doesn't sound like the 4Runner makes sense for her. If she wants a comfortable luxury SUV there are better options.

Add on everything you can order it with and then sell the parts new after she takes ownership, put the cash towards what she wants...

Hey man, they look damn good. Can't fault her there. But the current 4R is a dinosaur when it comes to real creature comforts. If I didn't plan on using it for it's 4WD capability, I would have likely bought something different. But for me it works perfectly because I use it for what Toyota has targeted it's ideal buyer to do. Getting outside and going to remote areas. She'll like the looks, but she'll hate the MPG's and the interior amendments down the road. Then you will be the one responsible for putting her there in the 4R when she would have been happier somewhere else. Have her text drive it, connect her own phone, press all of the buttons, drive it for a few hours if need be. My $.02. Good luck.

we shopped them, you can, even optioned pretty well. A 2017 FWD 5-Passenger with Vision Package (360-degree top down camera, automatic mirros, blind spot, cross traffic), wood in lays and upgraded stero and heated seats was like $48k
