Have some questions about XREAS...

I just found this site yesterday and I've read so much my head hurts. I have an 04 Sport V6 with 133k. I always wondered about the shocks with the hoses attached to them, now I see they are called XREAS. I bought my 4R new and don't recall anything about XREAS...

Is/was XREAS designed as an upgraded suspension?

Based on what I've read I can replace the XREAS struts and shocks at about $130 each, or just yank them off and replace with standard type struts and shocks...

Do I need to replace the springs if I pull the XREAS?

What else have I missed??

Was an option on limited, standard on SE.

They can be replaced although many people dump it because they find better riding components equal to or less than what the dealer wants to replace everything.

Its overrated IMO - I have it too and cant wait to get rid of it. Quite a jarring ride sometimes due to the diagonal-linking nature.

No way I'd replace it with another set, I'd go with an aftermarket solution. There are plenty of great shock setups that are more reliable and more comfortable.
