Have you changed roof rack from 2nd gen to third gen?

I have a '92 4Runner with the roof rack but it's so small. I've seen the third gen 4Runners have a longer roof rack. Has anyone changed the 2nd Gen to a 3rd Gen rack?

Although I've not tried this, you could get another set of 2nd gen roof rack rails & use them to extend the stock rack forwards.
