My Build started with my 2015 Trail Edition with KDSS, here she is the first day I got her:

I started the modding with an ARB on-board air compressor. I had this on my Taco and used it a lot:
ARB On-Board High Performance 12 Volt Air Compressor (CKMA12)

Then I ordered a 3" lift kit from ToyTec and a set of BFGoodrich KO2’s in 285/70/17:

Then I did some small interior mods, including Weather Tech Digital Floor Liners:

I then mounted my Maglite flashlight to the drivers seat:

Next up were a set of Pelfreybilt Sliders that were powder coated with top plates:

I followed that up with the Pelfreybilt Hidden Winch Mount:

I topped all that off with an ARB Differential Breather Kit:

On order I have a Gobi Roof Rack with a ladder, tool box, High Lift mount, spare tire mount, and Rigid Industries 40" E Series LED light bar Spot/Flood combo pattern Light Bar. I got this as part of the group buy here (thanks Jicko!).

I also have Shrockworks 5 piece skid plates, powder coated, on their way:
5th Gen 4Runner Skid Plates, 2010-2015

Looks good so far, I am excited to see where you take this build. Is this your DD as well, or just a weekend exploring rig?

How is the rubbing with the 285/70's?

Just my weekend rig. There was absolutely no rubbing with the tires until I added the winch up front. I ordered 1/4" spacers, that are somehow supposed to provide a 1/2" lift, hoping to solve that problem:
Front Top Plate Spacer (One - 1/4")

You have a couple options, you can get an alignment, and someone good could get it aligned and adjusted and you won't have the rubbing. Or, the second thought is, I am guessing it is a 600, or 650 lb spring on the coil over. Not sure which ToyTec lift it was. Always the possibility of upgrading the spring, but it will stiffen the ride out and it will be a bit more rough.

Is this your first 4Runner?

I'm going to try the spacers first, I believe they will solve the issue as I only need an extra 1/8" to clear again. If not, I will try something else. Not really a big deal, it only rubs at full lock. This is my second 4Runner, I had a 1st gen a long time ago. I also had a 2013 Tacoma (somewhat similar to the 4Runner).

Welcome to the club, before you know it you'll find yourself on the street corner for LEDs....wait what?

Its awesome, and theres so much you can do with these, congrats on the rig, and I am excited to see what you do with it.

Body Mount Chop. It's commonplace as a first step when going up to the 285's or higher. If you're using stock UCA's with your Toytec's, then you'll more than likely have the caster maxed out to +4. That still doesn't leave enough room at full lock or at much flex higher than a pebble if the wheel is turned at all. Look up the BMC.

I'm BMC, Total Chaos UCA's, Toytech Ultimate, and "stock" alignment and can still squeak out a rub here and there when pushing it.

Also, be prepared to trim some of the plastic on the front of the fender well as well as relocating the splash guard about an inch forward... Did that too.

Do yourself a favor and do the HID upgrade. The projectors have regular bulbs in them. The 35w standard HIDs will be good, I have 55w HID bulbs and sometimes they are a little bright for oncoming drivers. The cutoff is really good on the projectors too. Visit TRS and check it out, it's all plug and play.

I'm probably the farthest thing from an expert on this but, from what I've read you don't need to do a BMC with 285's and spacers can potentially compound the problem. An UCA with proper caster, an alignment and removing the mud flaps (in some cases) seems to be what many have had success with. Do a search on the forum - there's a ton of threads on the topic. Nice build, by the way.

I don't plan on doing the BMC thing, doesn't seem necessary. I'd rather fix the problem with suspension changes or upgrades rather than chop up the truck.
 
Absolutely love the way this rig sits. Which lift did you use? I thought you posted it but couldn't find it. Also do you have any wheel spacers?
