Having A New 4Runner Shipped Cross Country

There are many companies that specialize in this. If you are purchasing it from a dealer, they will probably have someone they trust to do it. If you are setting it up yourself, shop around and get a few quotes then decide.
I did it years ago, purchased a motorcycle off ebay and had it shipped. The bike arrived safely, there were some tracking issues along the way. They claimed they were unable to give me an estimated delivery date (closer than within a 2 week window) and they had no idea where the bike was once it was picked up. I'm sure they are much better at that now. or at least i'd hope.

I did this once (on a vehicle I totally regretted buying.. but that's a different story). I was living in Florida at the time and working in Colorado, so I bought locally and had it shipped. The dealer I purchased from found a decent rate and arranged everything. I picked it up at a dealer of my chosing in CO. Picking it up was simple - just show my ID, sign a piece of paper, and they handed me the keys.
It was expensive but TTL in FL is so much cheaper it almost paid for itself.

Be careful with this. My co-worker bought a highlander and had it shipped. It got major roof damage in transit. It was repaired, but she was without her new car for a month. Since she arranged shipping, the dealer was absolved.
I would only do thjs if the dealer arranged shipping and took responsibility for shipping.

I used DAS to ship a car...household move, not a new car purchase.
No complaints. Picked up and delivered in the agreed upon time window with no damage.

Live in CA. Bought a '15 TRD Pro in MA last year.
Went through uShip. Selected a shipping company who bid $1100 and I was ready waiting for pickup the first week of December.
After some back and forth (delayed finding a driver near there), truck still wasn't picked up on the promised date. Called company that won the bid, turns out the truck broke down in front of the dealer and no other trucks were available nearby.
After waiting another couple days, it was now a week before NYE and it was clear no trucker wanted to be driving cross-country for New Year's unless they got paid way more than the $1100 I had settled on with the shipping company.
Bought a one-way ticket the same day for $160, with hotels and gas I spent $600-700 and had the truck in my driveway in 4 days (plus wear and tear on the truck, naturally).
Would I recommend a shipping company? Sure, if you can find a reputable one with good liability insurance and you're (super) flexible on pickup/dropoff dates.
But, knowing what I know now, I'll rather drive cross-country again if I need to.
