Hazard light gone crazy!! Please Help!!!

Hello,

Please, I need help with my T4R V8 2k3 hazard lights. It won't stop blinking continuously at ignition off. But immediately i turn on the engine ignition it stop blinking and continue to work normally throughout my drive time.

The pointers (turn signals) are also working well during driving and all four bulbs are fine.

The only thing i could do to switch it off after turning off the ignition is to remove its fuse from the fuse box.

The alarm sounders and other anti-theft deterrent system is working fine both at ignition on and off.

I will appreciate any help i can get to resolve this issue.

Have you changed any of the bulbs recently? What type of electrical work has been done on the car recently?

Also did you try popping out the hazard switch and unplugging it to see if it stops

Yes, I have popped the switch in and out to check if it got stock. The switch was fine and still works okay.
I never can say if there had been any electrical work on it. I have not done any. Just got the ride from a dealer in march 2013 @ 46k miles. I can't say if they have done some electrical works on it before i bought it. Besides, all electronics works fine except the VSC, trac-off and check engine lights that have been on from the 2nd week I bought it.

Though there was very heavy rainfall a night before this problem but the vehicle was parked in my compound.

Could it be that someone tried to burgled my ride? or rain water entered into the electrical part? There was no flood in my compound though.

The question was did you pop out the hazard switch to see if it stops? NOT a typo like you, stock or I think you mean stuck. I asked if it stops, as in stops blinking weather car on or off?

2008 Toyota 4 Runner flashers turn on themselves

Did this ever get fixed? I,m having same issue. The hazard switch works as normal but i disconnected just to make sure but flashers will still come on by themselves . All signal lights are lighting so i don't have any bad bulbs .

The only way i can get to stop flashing is to

*start car
*remove fuse
*remove flasher 81980-35020
(My best guess so far is that this flasher is causing the intermittent flashers to go on themselves. This part is about $50 so I would like to be sure before attempting to replace it.)

Any help?

No didn't buy truck from Nigeria

Maybe i wasn't clear to stop the hazard lights from continuing to blink I can either start vehicle or i can pull out fuse for signal lights or i can remove the flasher

coulb be an aftermarket alarm installed. see under the dash or kick panel for black box.

Did replacing the flasher relay solve the problem? My 2008 4Runner started having the same exact problem this morning.

Does anyone have a diagram of the interior relays behind the interior fuse box? I can find the diagrams of the engine fuse box and the interior fuse box, but not the 4 relays in the back. I replaced the flasher relay but the problem still persists. I was wondering if maybe one of the other relays could be faulty. If anyone has any idea on what could be causing this problem please let us know! Trying to avoid going to the dealership at all costs.

Also some side notes:

After the battery is disconnected, the flashing doesn't start until about two hours after the battery is reconnected.

Turning on the car eliminates the problem. It only occurs when the car is off.

With the stock flasher relay, the random flashing occurs at the regular rate. With the new one from the dealership, the random flashing is very rapid and pressing the hazard switch makes the flashing occur at a regular rate.

I installed JA's fog light, map light, and footwell mod in March of 2014 and have had no problems (not sure if this could be a factor).

The DRL mod may cause an issue,the wiring goes to the flasher relay.

that's odd that the new flasher relay makes it even blink faster. I could only think that the new relay you bought is bad too. could be coincidence but sometimes happen. return it and have it replaced with another one.

I just had this exact same issue happen to me and fixed it. My 2003 4runner sunroof drains were clogged which routed the water down my driver door side to my circuit board. My hazards would run just like yours, with them staying on when the car was off but turning off when the car was on. I even had the exact same experience with the 1-2 hour delay after removing/replacing the flasher circuit before the hazards starting firing continuously again.

After swapping out the flasher module, which only sped up the flashing, I took my 4runner to the local Toyota dealership a week later and had their techs take a look. All they did was clean out my sunroof drains and spray dry the circuit boards with compressed air to remove any moisture and voila, problem solved. I would recommend doing a thorough drying of the circuits via compressed air before anything else. It's been over 10 days now and still no issues with the hazards or electronics at all.
