Head Gaskets??????????

1995 Production

I guess having started this thread back in February, I should feel compelled to state that Toyota USA said that the Head Gasket issue stops on 1995 production models after October. So if your 1995 3.0 V-6 was made after October for that production year, you cannot qualify for any Toyota assistance for head gasket repair.

It just so happens that mine was made in November. Guess who paid that bill!

Also experienced an Automatic transmission issue at 103K with over heating. Added a trans cooler and still over heats. Something tells me I got a bad seed from Toyota. So, what did I do? Sold it and bought a new Nissan. I have an old 1991 Nissan P/U with 230K, it never gave me any issues like that 1995 2nd generation 4-Runner.

Well i am super glad I found this forum. I am currently shopping for my 1st 4Runner!!! Always wanted one. Love the 1st gen, but need 4 doors so I'm going with 2nd gen but have been really scared off by those head gasket problems. I learned a lot about them on carsurvey.org. Apparently I'm pretty safe going with the 4 cylinder. I heard some bad stories about some gaskets replaced only to blow again in another 40k miles!!! I also heard that the '96-'98 runners were recalled for rear suspension problems.? don't know much about that. Any other areas I should be cautious of? I want the Toyota dream, ya know. I want that wonderful machine that goes and goes! Any help would be super!
