Headed West in my 2001 4Runner

Forgot to add my recommendations! I have family in southern Oregon, and definitely recommend heading through there to the coast.

Also, I was looking to do my trip on the Trans American Trail. its big with the motorcycle adventure riders. it starts in NC (I think) and ends in WA. the majority of it being dirt/off road.

Sorry to hear about your truck.

It would be awesome to take the Trans American, maybe I'll get to that next. It'll have to wait for now though. thanks for the recommendations.

I'll definitely post a tenative schedule on here soon. We're leaving from Nashville, TN on June 3rd..... returning about a 5-6 weeks later.

We are leaving Iowa June 4 to go to Phoenix with a stop in Moab for a couple days. Maybe we will bump into each other. We plan to visit Arches National park and the Grand Canyon on our trip.

Like other mentioned, make sure the maintenace has been done and everything is in good shape. I started a long to do list on my 4Runner this past weekend.

So the time has come, and we're west bound on I-40. We'll be passing through OKC soon, and should be making it to Albuquerque around 9 tonight. Any suggestions for late dinner?

It's been an uneventful drive so far, other than a tire shred ripping off my front license plate. But my truck is running well, no weird noises, clicks, or leaks.

So far the only pics we have are of that good Memphis BBQ

Yesterday's travel was from Alma, AR, to Albuquerque, NM. Along the way we stopped at Cadillac Ranch to snap a few photos. While we were there we met a couple that was on a transcontinental road trip from Argentina to Alaska. Turns out they we newly weds on a pretty awesome honeymoon.

After a full day of driving yesterday we made it to Albuquerque. The first stop of course was the Frontier Restaurant for some cheap Mexican food and 2 dozen tortillas for the road.

We stayed with a family friend who lives in Sandia park (25 miles east of the city). He happens to be an avid ADV rider and today we had the chance to cruise some local forest service roads in the 4Runner. The best part of the drive had to have been cruising through old railroad tunnels. Didn't manage to get any pics along the way, but his garage is stacked with DS bikes, trials bikes, and anything else you could imagine. The view from our room at his house was pretty awesome too.

We're currently less than 2 hours from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Staying for two nights and exploring everything we can before heading to San Diego.
