Headers, anybody install them on their 4runner?

I'm thinking of a project for the spring/summer and thought headers would make a huge improvement on our 1990 3.0(4WD, auto) 4runner. Has anybody had any experience with NWOR(Northwest Off Road) units? One nice aspect, is they bolt up to the factory exhaust as well. I just put on a factory replacement muffler about 1 1/2 ago would hate to get rid of it. It would probably be a good idea to upgrade the cat converter to a high flow unit as well. Thanks for any comments.

Gotta weigh the cost benefit, what are you going to gain, 10-15 hp? not much considering how much it costs to do the headers and exhaust correctly. Skip the headers, get a freer flowing cat and cat back. Then do some cheap, minor mods to the intake, maybe replace the fan and be happy. Or put in a 350, now that's the way to go.

A big advantage of headers on the 3.0 is the elimination of the stock cross-over pipe, one of the biggest problems with that engine.
You still need a cross-over pipe, but it can be run under the engine where it won't cause problems.

i wish they added 10-15 hp. i really dont know what mine added but i installed a used set of Downey Headers Carb Legal hehe. was complete bolt on since the po welded flanges on them. anyways the only reason i did it was to get rid of the cross over pipe imo help cause the HG issues they had. reduce heat off the rear of the engine and prevent future HG issues. any power made was only a bonus. dont buy for HP.

Thanks for the comments, I've already modded the intake and air box which increased the mpg by 1. It probably runs or pulls a bit stronger, but nothing to write home about. I know the exhaust is one of the weaker design points of the truck.
The thought of installing those headers with the auto trans won't be a walk in the park. I'll have to check options for a free flow cat and muffler options. It seems Borla does not make mufflers any more for our old trucks(read: 1990 4runner V6). Again, thanks for the comments.

wasnt too bad to install lol i know i dont want to do another one. mine is also an AUTO

if i did it on a rack, i think it would have been easier
