I'm looking into getting a set of headers for my 3.0 5speed. I found a set of NWOR headers in the classifieds section here that are for the auto. My first question is there any reason that it will not work because I have the 5speed. I would understand if it was vise versa because the auto is longer than the manual. I have also been thinking about getting a set from LCE. Any one have any good or bad reviews about either? Did you install yourself, if so how bad was it? I would want to install them myself instead of taking it to a shop. I would probably replace the rest of my exhaust system at the same time too.

That is something I hadn't considered, I'll probably call NWOR when I get some free time.

Any one have any other reviews of either LCE or NWOR headers?

Are they really worth it? Everywhere I hear a good exhaust and intake are the best for the 3.0, besides eliminating the crossover that cooks the HG
 
The LCE's are a solid header. I put them on my 3rz 4cyl and imo they have been great.

No experience on NWOR headers tho.

I am installing the Doug Thorley headers on my 4WD 5speed. It has been a little tight so far. And the parts supplied for the reed valve and EGR didn't work the way they intended. I will take some pics tomorrow of how it's going and the modifications of the tubes for the EGR and reed valve.
 
Just do away with the reed and egr, easy-peasy. I did a 1" body lift on my 93 to make at all a little easier.
 
Where did you find a 1" body lift? All I can find is 2 or 3". I like the EGR it helps keep my mileage a little better and reduces combustion temp when cruising.
 
Here's how I modified the tubes for the reed valve and EGR. On the EGR I used a torch to heat and straighten the original tube. Then cut off the manifold end. After that I cut a section from the middle of it and welded it back together to fit in

Thanks for the input everyone. I may just go with LCE because they are a bit more budget friendly.

I thought most headers were also an egr/pair valve delete as well, is it worth it to keep them? Ive read that with out these it can raise combustion chamber temps in return burning valves, any truth or experience behind this? I have not had any issues with mine (that I know of).
 
not sure what the pair is for. I think it's just to help it warm up quicker when cold. But the EGR lowers combustion temp and also increases fuel mileage which is why I kept it.
 
I'd say that's retarded for used headers! Downey, Thorley, a few other brands are all under that amount by a LOT, and you get brand new headers! Maybe it was the complete setup, including crossover tube and full exhaust all the way to the tip? For that price, then maybe, but I think that's still way too high for used equipment, especially if its in a totalled vehicle. Was the engine impacted by the accident? If so, you may have bent pipes. Same goes for anything along the frame, as the exhaust attaches to it in various places.

Wonder why NWOR doesn't publish their prices online? Perhaps they are way overpriced? :noidea:
 
Mt DT headers cost me $650 and the exhaust form the y-pipe back cost me $225. So Ya, I'd say $1300, even if new, is way to much.
