Headlamp assembly for '06 4Runner

Hello,

I posted this over on the 'Accesories' page as well, but may fit better over here....

I recently hit a deer with a nice rack of antlers that punctured my drivers side headlamp assembly and also broke it off the plastic mounting tabs on the assembly. So, I've been looking for a replacement headlamp assembly and have a couple of questions:

1. Is there an on-line reseller that has great prices? The best price I've found is about $212.00, however I've found headlamp assemblies for '05 4r for about 1/2 of that.

2. Can the assembly be easily replaced with normal tools? Seems so... but not sure if simply mounting it will result in proper beam projection.

Thanks much for any help on this!

2003-05 have a different headlight assembly than the 2006+. They also use a different bulb for the lowbeam, 9006 for the 2003-05, H11 for the 2006+. The trim underneath the headlight is different and the grille shape as well. It appears the 2003-05 headlight would interfere with the grille on the 2006+.

You can try partznet.com for headlights. Also, are both lights OEM? Aftermarket headlights will be much cheaper.

Yes, the headlight assembly can be replaced with normal hand tools. From what others have posted, there is a bolt in the lower corner behind the fender that's a bit difficult to access, but can be done without removal of the bumper cover. You should check the aim of the headlights after replacing the assembly. There is a possiblity that the mounting points could've shifted slightly from the OEM location thus resulting the aim to be off.

Thank you Uneek. I have not been able to find any aftermarket headlight assemblies that resemble stock - more like some sort of performance or upgrade kits. I'll keep looking. Again, thanks for the response and the installation comments.
