Hola Amigo! Welcome to the forum.

I haven't seen those black lights on a 3rd gen truck anywhere lately except the junk yards....which oddly enough — is where I think they really belong. But that's probably just me...

On the other hand, lots of 3rd gen guys run the clear headlights and corners. Which look good especially on 96-98 trucks with the older style headlights. Anyways, if interested in that, there are plenty of threads here about them.

Thanks and lol kk well idk I just wanted to try a diff look cause I recently installed a black mesh grill and tried that plastic dip on the hood and wanted to see how it look with those black headlights. I recently have that clear headlights and clear corners look and thanks I'll try check it out

You can black out the corners by using a concentrated cleaner to dissolve the chrome, fill the corner with it and wait a bit. the headlights can be blacked out on the edges, but it looks best if you retrofit projectors in, and simply black the whole thing out.

If you see black corner lights in a junk yard that are in good condition (especially the driver's side), please grab them. I will gladly buy them from you.

I need to replace my cracked ones from a deer hit.

it all depends on the state laws, those are technically clearance lights, so you should have no problem, but take a look at the law, and if you are concerned take a copy and put it in you glove box. in arizona from what i remember it doesnt matter what you do, the reflectors just have to work.

Actually, headlights and corner lights are not regulated by the states, they are regulated by DOT which is a federal agency, i.e. all US soil!

According to the law, you can black out the inside of the headlights but not tinted lenses at all. For corner lights, you need to have Amber reflectors (not clear or any other color) and use Amber light bulbs to be DOT compliance!

But most cops don't know anything about these laws anyway:cry2:

DOT isn't "regulated" unless it's a commercial vehicle.

Unless there's a state or local statute/law regulating lights, which most states do have, there isn't diddly that "DOT compliant" means in terms of regulation for non-commercial vehicles/drivers.

I don't know why anyone would purposefully reduce the output and visibility of any external light on a vehicle for the sole purpose of vanity.
