Headlight Buzzer

I have a 2006 4Runner, I have read that if I leave my headlights on after I take out the key and lock the doors, the headlights will automatically turn off within 30 to 60 seconds.
I've tried that and the lights do not go off, did I mistakenly push a button, turn a knob or something that will not allow the lights to go off?
Stumped here, without a warning buzzer, I don't want to leave the lights on in the wintertime.
Any help?

It takes closer to 2 minutes to turn off. You can also turn them off by hitting the lock button on the remote two times. At least that how it is on my 03.

If you turn back on the lights after shutting them off, they will not turn off automatically and stay on indefinately.

I've noticed, if I turn the key to off and remove it and open the door immediately, the lights shut off right away. If I turn the key off and remove it, but wait about 10-15 seconds in the car and then open the door, the lights will stay on and shut itself off automatically after a minute or two.
